help identify front inlet - 68 Overlander

hi,

I have a new to me '68 Overlander that I'm trying to get into "ship shape".
What I'm tackling now is plumbing. The front of the trailer has this inlet that looks like it's for fresh water (see pics in link), but as you can see, it doesn't lead to anything. Wondering if anyone here knows how and what it's supposed to connect to. It looks like it's used for fresh water? What's also befuddling is that it also looks like there's a hose connection in the rear that feeds into the (missing) 20 gallon tank.

As an aside, a 20 gallons tank for fresh water seems like a minuscule amount, or am I missing something?

That is the fill port for your white tank (potable water). Here are links to two pages on my '67 Overlander's web site to put it in perspective.

Hope this helps,

The previous owner of your trailer has made modifications to the trailer. The fresh water tank was under the front sofa as was the water pump. It appears that all of those items have been removed and replaced with whatever you have now. The original water tank was around 30 gallons.

thanks guys. that's really helpful. Question I have now is, I thought the fresh water tank was in the rear, on the right side of the trailer (looking from the front), accessed by one of the removable panels; there is threaded hose inlet that connects to that tank too.

P.O. modification. It was originally in the front under the sofa as Richard noted. See page 53 of the Owner's Manual linked in his post.
