If Airstreams were stationary...
Here is something to see if you are in the area. The Dymaxion House by Buckminster Fuller. I beleive two or three are in existence. Two private residences (at least private at one time - one in Wichita) and a restored prototype at the Henry Ford Museum. The museum also has other great oddities like President Kennedy's Limo (one he was shot in) and the Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile.

Now look what you've done!
Wow! Now I want one too! Way cool! I am afraid my husband won't live long enough to tackle that project too! He already needs to live to 250 just to get my current "honey-do" list finished!

Buckminster Fuller was a real character with unique thoughts. He also designed the rear wheel steering Dynomax car and the geodesic dome houses of the 60's. He was a professor at University of Illinois for quite a while. Mother Earth Mag. had many write ups about him.

With a name like Buckminster, you suppose they used buck rivets?

Sandi said no!
While Sandi and were on our way to Yellowstone this past September we stopped at the Henry Ford Museum. It is a must see place! They have a little bit of everything including a wonderful AS. I have the photo at home, I should post it here. There was no way Sandi would let me near the Fuller house for extreme fear of me building one as an AS Clubhouse!

Once in a life time!
I had the pleasure of working with "Buckey" when he was a visiting scholar at the then San Jose State University. I went to a lecture he was giving on his inventions and thoughts. It was amazing to see him keep a crowd on the edge of their seats for "3" hours. There was a group of us who worked on a cardboard dome. One of the other amazing things was that I was 24 at the time and he was 80. And I couldn't keep up with him. Along with the many other things he was an amazing educator a human being of the first caliber. Don

Don,
It sounds like you were in school for Architecture or Engineering.
I have always admired Fullers inventivenes and creativity mixed with the practical engineering skills. Some thought he was kinda nutty, but that happens when people think only in terms of, "will it make money?"

I also had the chance to see/hear Fuller at Carnegie Tech in the 50s. We sat through 2 hrs. of his philosophy and came out knowing less about it than when we went in. Whatever he was trying to say went right over our heads. Of course, we were only 3rd year Achitectural students and still very wet behind the ears. His work none-the-less was very facinating.
