1980's Airstreams
I noticed in the poll "When was your Airstream born?" that only one 80-84 was indicated as well as one for 85-89. I realize that there is a vintage following (almost there, both trailer and me) and people buying new but why such a small following in the 80's? I pose this because I have an 80-83 Excella II fixation in 25 ft. configuration I can't shake. I'm wanting to learn more about these years.

I, for one, was unable to post a vote for my '81 Excella. Wonder if others were unsuccesful also.

I'm not to sure how accurate the pole is since apparently not everyone can vote. I've tried several times only to be told that this is not a valid session. or something to that effect. I'm one of those who own an 87' and very happy. Would buy another if it where not for the money already invested with another 10-12k before I get to finish my project.

Is this a POLL?
Here we are...me & BEAR...
my 19-EIGHTY-ONE Excella 500? 32 feet, twin-axle, twin-propane tanks with shroud, ZipDee awnings (in Blue stripe) on all 4 sides.
Curbside bathroom and rear bedroom.
I am in love with my 81 and yes, we (Bear & me) are both approaching "vintage" status. Ain't it grand!?!!
So, if this is a POLL...count my entry please.
if it's NOT the poll,,,point me in the right direction.
Cat & Bear---that's a picture on the left...(except I have no window in the door.

Cat,
What, no window in the door? My '77 has a window. I thought this was in the Excella package for that year.

Interesting Vintage, 80's
My first was a 53 and, now I have a 84 Sovereign. At 29' length, it's just perfect.
I've learned more abt A/S the last 4 yrs then I'd thought possible. And, I still have a long ways to go.
ciao

TO???
I could NOT remember which Thread I promised to tell when I got pictures downloaded. I just did it, and I'm putting out 'feelers'..
I can't remember who it was on here that's waiting for the photos of my restoration, and there's so many forums I can't find it. ,
I've fianally started a Photo Album on here. ...
To see the 2 on here... , just go to the Member's Photos and you'll see them.
They are progress shots,,,and lots of unfinished things are apparent

Door Window
To David,
re your 'post' a few ago on this Thread...
My Excella is an 81...just like the pix I use for my "logo"...but no window. I don't know why...but I'm sort of glad it doesn't have it. Makes it stronger ? And gave me a "canvas" for a painting I'm working on. (I'll post a pix of that too soon)
Have you seen my 2 photos posted.?

Cat,
Just checked the 2 photos you posted. Interesting color contrast of the yellow couch and black/white checkered tile. Hmmmmm!

80 Caravelle
My vote didn't count either!!
I just purchased an 1980 Caravelle 20 footer. She is too cute with her orange and red stripes down the sides. I haven't figured out posting the picture thing yet but I will soon. Does anybody know anything about the name change from Caravel to Caravelle? Haven't heard much about it. All I do know is that I haven't met anyone with a Caravel from th 80's. Got any info?
Thanks
Cara

ev'thin
David,,,I's sorry...I just forgot.. thanx for visiting my pics...re' the colours...as they say, "You ain't seen nothing yet".
Thanks Caio...glad you liked those...more comin'. like I said to David...."...."...(yeah)
Cara, pictures aren't difficult. You prob don't own a digital--like me-- So, don't be 'put off' by the lack of. Just get some blank floppy discs from your office supply store, take one with the pictures you want with the disc to your friendly printer. Have them download the pictures you want (they'll scan them first and then download them to your disc). Then, bring the disc home and drop them into the FORUM... When you Browse, you can select whichever one you want to share. That's all I did...those 2 pix are just from my Canon camera.
let us know on this Thread when you get them ok?

Cara,
I think all of us would like to see pictures of your Caravelle when you get the chance. I have added pictures here and there when questions have come up on the forum. It would be interesting to see what changes were made in 1980.

1980 Caravelle rear pic
Hey guys!!
Finally stopped being lazy and posted a picture. It's the only one a have right now and it's not a great one. But, it will do for now. It is taken at the previous owners house the day we bought it. Which was only a few weeks ago. They said it hadn't been polished in years. So, that is what I am going to do first. Everything in the inside in original. We are the 3rd owners. The last couple who owned it had it for ten years. They were an older couple who took wonderful care of it. It was actually her "Engagment ring" she said. Since they had been married before.
Anyway....I will post some more pics as a get them!
Have a good one!!

Thanks
Thanks!!
The rear portion has a good shine but on the sides in certain spots it has become oxidized a bit, I think. Trying to gather some more pics so check again soon and you'll see what I mean.
Have a GR-8 day,
Cara
