AI Grand Tour Electrical Issues

I have a 2016 AI Ext coach and am still trying to figure out the electrical system. I've had a few things happen recently and need help in figuring out exactly what's going on or isn't going on. This concerns the Magnum inverter, the remote and the settings of the remote. Here is what is happening. My coach is plugged into shore power in the garage and everything seems to be working fine. All systems seem to be working properly and I've checked them over a period of days. Suddenly all power in the coach goes off. Everything is dead except the engine battery. In addition, the GFI switch is tripped. When I start the engine within seconds power is restored in the coach and strangely the radio which under normal circumstances does not come on when you start the engine, and the radio is showing a screen asking questions for startup to get the radio calibrated. At this point the Magnum charger green light is not lit and won't come with the reset button. But after an hour or so I can press the reset button and get the green light to flicker and eventually it goes steady green and blinks every 4 seconds. What also is strange is my new AGM batteries show fully charged and the remote settings are normal, but the FLOAT does not show til the next day. Anybody have any ideas what is going on? This has happened twice.I would also like to know once and for all what the settings should be for the remote. I have read on here two different setting versions that supposedly are the correct ones.

Welcome to the AirForums! Sorry your introduction came as a result of a problem you're having.

Part of the problem is that you can't possibly get an accurate reading of the charge state of your house batteries unless you completely disconnect them (i.e. remove them from the coach) and let them "rest" for about an hour so that the chemical processes going on in the battery have stopped. If the batteries are hooked up and there is any charging source at all— solar, shore power and Magnum charger, engine alternator, or generator— then any attempt to measure battery voltage will instead measure the charging voltage. So your batteries could be stony dead, but as long as a charging voltage is present, your control panel might mistakenly show the batteries as fully charged.

Before going any farther, turn off everything that you can turn off. Then locate the house batteries and disconnect at least the negative terminal of each. Then wait about an hour and use a voltmeter or multimeter to measure the voltage directly at the batteries. That will tell you whether your batteries are really charged or if your control panel is fooling you.

Also sorry to hear you are having issues with your coach. In my view Airstream does a real disservice to their owners buy not providing a good quality battery State of Charge (SOC) indications. But your problems sound like there is something basically wrong with your coach. Perhaps a loose wire somewhere. I had that problem on my Interstate a few months after I bought it. Tripping GFI and other breakers does also suggest there might be an issue with the shore power source.
