Hi, I have seen you in numerous posts. I have recently purchases a 2017 Interstate Grand Tour EXT. I saw in an older post that you have used Sun Motors in Mechanicsburg. I live in the Harrisburg Area. In taking my van to them, they are telling me they can't do an alignment because of the Alcoa wheels and how the bead on the tire doesn't leave a lip for them to mount their equipment. Not sure what wheels you have but wanted to check on your experience. George

    Hello sir,
I read with interest your post on mounting the solar panels. where and how did you mount the old circular TV antenna? Ive seen some posts in which the antenna appears to be mounted on top of the AC unit. Is that where you minted yours and how did you attach it?

    Thanks

Mike, thanks for all your advice over the years. My 2011 Interstate has the box that goes through the floor that Airstream used to stack two group 24 size 80amp Lifelines. I want to remove the box and put some other type of battery or batteries in its place. The size of the box limits my choices, so it has to go. Airstream uses a pass though battery post to connect the negative side to the inverter and charger, which also grounds the negative to the frame. On the edge of the box, about a half dozen bare copper wires are also grounded in a bus bar. If I do away with the box, and just place the battery in place, I'll need some way to ground the negative to the frame, and then I'd just use the existing bus bar screwed into the metal floor to ground that. But I was wondering if you had any suggestions as to size of wire and how to ground the new negative battery to the frame?

About a year ago you wrote: I'm putting my new battery upgrade in the same place. I'll be installing four Lifeline GPL-4CT, 6V batteries .... and Magnum 2000 inverter...

Did you have this done at an RV dealer or somewhere else?

As background, I bought a used 2016 from a private party with no walk thru on how stuff works. I spend hours reading and trying to figure out how all this stuff works... struggling! Anyway, my house batteries fell to 55% with nothing on overnight. Something is very wrong. Guess I need new batteries.

Mike, there is a good sale this weekend at Lazy Days on 160W solar panels by Go Power and I want to order three today for my 2016 Interstate, but before I do I need to figure out if I should replace the existing solar controller. If so, I will order one of the three kits with the Go Power controller. Any advice? THanks!

Hello Mike, I didn't want to take any of the current threads off-topic too much, hence this message:
Lew is going to do an upgrade for me after he's in Oregon: 400W solar and 2 Lifeline GPL-6CT's (300AH). But I'm sticking with the existing Magnum. If I went with the 2000W Magnum, do you think the 300AH batteries could cope with dry camping to include the microwave a couple of times a day? That larger Magnum is so expensive, but if I can justify it to the wife......! Actually it's hard to justify, since the microwave would probably be used for maybe 5 minutes each time, and we could probably put up with the generator noise for that time!
    Best, Peter
