Cruise Control
I have just purchased a 1982 280 Turbo Diesel runs like a clock but the cruise does not work. Any advice as to which way to go. Should I repair or get an electronic cruise installed. A cruise is a must since I am disabled and need it for driving. The PO had it repaired prior to delivery, servo and drive shaft pick up. The mechanic is 1500 miles away so good to me.
Thanks,
Chaplain Kent

Imhop electonic cruise would be a bonus for you. My old cruise does not work also, never has. Same year model as yours. Good luck with your 280, I have really enjoyed ours.
I have installed the Audiovox Aftermarket cruise control system on multiple vehicles. They work well and come complete. They can use the OEM turn signal mounted control. They run about 100 bucks and take 3-4 hours to install.

Does your Turbo Diesel have a vacuum pump? - You might want to check the operational level of the pump.
I may be wrong, but I think on the Isuzu powered models that Alternator has a vacuum pump slaved to the shaft to supply vacuum for other needs. It makes for one less belt, but a very expensive alternator.
