TV fallout...

I have a 2000 Landyacht 31. While driving back from Texas to Colorado last Christmas, we hit some bumps in the road and the 19" TV literally fell out of the front dash. I have contacted the home office (service /tech)department of Airstream in Ohio and nobody can tell me how the TV is supposed to be held in place in the dash. If anyone has info on how this TV was originally installed and how to keep it in its place (maybe written or photographic instructions), I would greatly appreciate it. This TV falling out of the dash is not supposed to happen, especially while driving at 65 mph. What a surprise that was!

Thanks for any advice or suggestions you can offer.

If it was the original 19" tube TV, they were braced with the frame around the cabinet and had a clip at the top. I removed mine and put a 24" flat screen with built in DVD into the same space and its mounted on an adjustable pc monitor arm. Works perfect. Used Velcro to hold it in place while traveling. Photos of the install are posted under my handle but can send more if you need to see details.

Hi Mike,
Do you have a picture by chance of what that clip looked like? I have contacted Airstream, but can't get any answers on how this TV is kept in place other than it might have been doubled sided tape. I have not seen any screw holes anywhere in the cabinet that would have had a clip installed, so I don't have a clue how this TV stayed in the dash. I'm planning on selling it and don't want the TV hanging out of the dash when I show it to prospective buyers. Would not e a good selling point. Lol...
Any suggestions on how to remount the TV would be greatly appreciated.
Roger

TV bracket

I went through my photos and could not find a shot of what was there but the screw hole did remind me it was a simple L shape elbow bracket. One screw into top of TV and other into front of the frame. The hole in center top is where it was attached. It was so darn heavy and fat, once in place it did not move.

Hope this helps.

Second photo shows the articulating arm I used for the new flat screen. This is actually nothing more than an adjustable arm for computer monitor. Works great but I do secure the new TV with bunjie cords when on the road.

Got the TV back in place using some shims and 30lb 2 sided tape. Hopefully this will keep that 30lb monster in its place.

TV Fallout...

Apparently the shims and two sided tape only worked for a day or two before the TV fell forward and out of the dash again. I'm going to try contacting Airstream again and hopefully I will speak with someone that can come up with an answer on how that TV is supposed to be held in place. We are planning on selling this RV and it's not a great selling point when the TV is hanging half way out of the dash.

If anyone knows how this TV was originally held in place in this 2000 Landyacht 30, please let me know. Thanks...
