Here goes,I hope this works. We bought a '67 Trade wind last Oct. in Beuitiful downtown GoldenValley,Az. for 600 dollars. Had to install 4 new tires to get it home(2 miles). I have since discovered I bought 10 ply rated ,8 ply tires when I needed 6 ply tires. When I packed the bearings I found the brake backing plates missing. I installed loaded backing plates We cleaned franicly, LOTS of mouse turds and LOTS of whatnot, and went campimg to Burro Creek campground in Az for Veterians Day last Nov. Not one amminitie but we had a good time. Since then we have been camping 5 times-2 or 3 days at a time. Got home yesterday from Tombstone,Az & Nogales Mx. We definatly need new axles-BAD. I ran the 10 ply tires at 30 psi and towed at 55-60 mph this last trip to keep the bouncing to a minimum. We now have running water,what a GREAT addition. No hot water. The fridge is working better. I had to dissassemble the orifice on Sat am to clean dirt out of it, in doing so I broke said orifice but was able to silver solder it back together, so far so good. The fridge also works on electric.
I will try to add pics at some point. I am not much good at this computer.

Great to here your getting out... Yep mine is a '68 and lots of work too.. maybe not as much as yours but starting the strip down now.....

Anyone know where I can get a new door seal for my fridge? It is a Dometic MA 52o.

John, Give Dometic a call they may still carry the seal you need. Google them online and have your model # ready when you call. Ed

Dometic has a idiot proof voice mail, and since i am an idiot I cannot get a living creature to talk to. Any other idea's about a door gasket for a Dometic fridge model MA52o. This is in a 1967 Tradewind. Thanks, John

I got lucky and found a door seal kit(gasket) at a appliance repair warehouse in Las Vegas,Nv today. $42- it is a cut to fit with 4 moulded corrners and a magnet strip. I am foaming the inside of the door liner to hopefully hold the cracks in place then am going to epoxy and paint the door liner. The fridge works good but warms up some during the day,i am hopping the new gasket will help.

John, Let us know how your door gasket repair turns out. My '67 Safari fridge needed a seal when I got it in "04. I was lucky enough to get a refer from another Airstream owner that was gutting his '67 and designing an all new interior. If your fix works we will all need to see pictures and get the part numbers and warehouse info for future use. Thanks for your posts and good luck! Happy Trails, Ed

I have a small panel above and to the right of my fridge. It has the A/C t-stat, a 110 recepticle, 12v power point, and a wall switch- like a light switch in the house. What is the switch for, seems to be nonfunctional? There is also a TV antana plug. Thanks

On my 66 Safari that switch controls the electric water pump.

Unlike Nutz, I have a switch on my control panel that does nothing more than illuminate a tell-tale light for the electric water pump. In my case, I know that I lost the wires to the pump during a catastrophic tire blowout which also managed to rip out 15 feet of feed wire.

Something similar may have happened with your unit...

It for the water pump in our '66 TW.

The Airstream people sure liked to move things about. My water pump switch( appears original) is on the side of the cabinet that the kitchen sink is in.

The switch for my water pump is in that same location. It is to turn the pump off at night so you can sleep without hearing the pump coming on to maintain pressure on the water lines. Ed

The fridge repair continues. The inside door panel was cracked in multiple places,I removed the cover shot the valley's with spray foam then hastily reassembled before the expansion got out off hand. I then used plastic epoxy to mend the various and sundry cracks. Sanded and shot a coat of plastic paint primer on. Iff all goes well will get the topcoat of paint on in the AM and new door gasket installed. Helen has photo's- when I figure that nightmare out will try to post them.

Got the new gasket on,it is about 3/32" thicker than the old one. Took a fair amount of filing on the hinge holes to slot them enough to get the door to close.But it fits and closes better than brfore. Also mounted a piezo ignighter over the burner. The flint wheel on the original striker was smooth as a baby's bottom, could not locate a new one. Helen is happy with the door holes epoxeyed shut, she was afraid of monsters in the night climbing out. With the new paint, and cabinets sanded and linseed oiled that portion of the Airstream is not looking so scarry.

Load your pictures onto your computer some place that you can remember (don't ask why I feel that is important!). When you make your post, scroll down to the section that says "Additional Options" Then go to the box "Attach Files" and click on "Manage Attachments". When you click on that another box will come up where you can download four photos. Click on the browse button, find the picture you want, and download it. If you forgot to give your photos a unique name and you just see the photo numbers, put the cursor on the number, right click and hit preview. Keep your photo sizes small so the load time isn't excessive.
