As I move along with the kids"s "74" Tradewind "CableStream", it was time to replace the rusted out furnace with a new Suburban. Removal was easy because the galley had been removed.

A new Suburban NT30 SP was ordered. The next challenge was how to connect with the existing plenum. Since the new furnace came with a case, the previous base needed modified...so out came the power shears.

Well we finally got around to addressing "Island Girl's" tongue...and it was ugly. At some point in time it was covered with aluminum paint. Rust was prevalent and it was time to put the power brush to work, hit it with POR 15, Rustoleum, and clean up the front end. I think it came out pretty nice.

The restoration of the "Cable Stream" is going well and nearing completion. The "74" Tradewind came with a side credenza and car stereo. When we started work, the credenza was gone and the stereo box was laying on the floor. For some reason the PO cut holes in the interior skin next to the wiring harness. Nothing worked. The plan was to install a new stereo in the front overhead bin.

After removing the gaucho I was shocked to see a "rats nest" of wiring and other ugly things. I decided to clean up the front end after painting and removing the Univolt and replacing with Intellipower 9100. At the same time we decided to repaint the overhead tambour. I think it might be time for the new gaucho.

You really can't appreciate the work that goes into polishing until you put a polisher to your Airstream. You also can't appreciate the shine until you see the oxidation disappear on your own Airstream. We debated the polish but decided to give it a try. Our son is home for college break and needed a summer job...guess what he is doing. And I must say, he has the touch! Typically he looks like he just came out of the coal mines at the end of a polishing day. But he is doing a super job and will...
