"74" Tradewind Furnace Replacement

Posted 05-15-2015 at 09:37 PM by Roadrunner

As I move along with the kids"s "74" Tradewind "CableStream", it was time to replace the rusted out furnace with a new Suburban. Removal was easy because the galley had been removed.

A new Suburban NT30 SP was ordered. The next challenge was how to connect with the existing plenum. Since the new furnace came with a case, the previous base needed modified...so out came the power shears.

Some power sanding to remove the rust and a can of Rustoleum Aluminum paint had the plenum looking like new. In order to seal the front of the old plenum, I took the old furnace front shell, cut it to fit and integrated it into the "new" plenum.
I needed to cut a rectangle on the top of the plenum for proper air circulationl

Next step will be to install the new plenum/furnace.
