5 vs 6qt

I just sent back the new 6qt v3 model we got from Amazon last week (still new & unused).

At first I thought it was too big ...but after reading through posts, and having it sit on the counter - I decided the size was fine. (Still kinda big for my liking to travel with. It's interesting to hear the 5qt is bigger).
But I too wanted to make yogurt and have the high & low option of the pressure cooking. So the 7 in 1 pot is now on order to replace the original order.
Hubby pointed out that there are plenty of yogurt recipes online for the 6qt v3 model and there isn't necessarily a need for a "yogurt" button - oops!

Either pot looks to be a great tool for making lots of delicious, healthy foods. Ok, and some awesome cheesecakes and ribs!

More instapot recipes..

Thought I would share some recipes I got today from my son...he's a believer now too! Were doing the Braised Lemongrass Chicken tonight...while drinking wine, watching TV, and not hovering over the stove... (I am throwing in a chopped jalapeno for some spice!)

I could not find a recipe for the Instapot V3, that did not refer to the Yogurt button, so maybe the recipe's will work in the V3. If you have a link to one that talks about the V3 and shows how to do it without the Yogurt button, please forward. Otherwise, I am considering sending back and getting the 7in1 model with the Yogurt button; I am still within the window... Oh, and check out the Cream Brule recipe...yum!

Gypsydad - I'll have hubby find that link for the yogurt making on the v3 and will post it.
For the 7 in 1 pot, I was also interested in the two levels of pressure cooking as some fish and veggie dishes seem to call for the low setting.
Since you are still within the window to return - may be its worth considering?? Amazon prime covered the delivery cost but my return to ship UPS fee was about $12.
I've never made creme brûlée - but there is always a first time!
The lemongrass chicken looks delicious. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy!

HI IP lovers,
I've been debating as to whether I should purchase one or not to use primarily with Airstream camping. Has anyone used their Instant Pot off grid with inverter? We frequently camp without hookups and knowing I could potentially use the 5 qt./900 watt IP off grid might help my decision.
Thanks,
FCloud9

Pressure cooker? I still remember my mom using one all the time until one day the steam vent got clogged with a mushroom and BOOM! Mushrooms on the kitchen ceiling. Thankfully, no one was burned. And she worried about my BB gun?
I hear the new ones are okay to try again.

Tho I am truly not knowledgeable on the subject, it would seem to me that the power draw from an IP might prohibit using it without electricity.

However....if you were to run your generator for awhile to top off your batteries, you could easily cook a meal in an IP during that 45 minutes or so, and it would provide a good load on your generator as is recommended when running it.

Waiting for me when I returned home yesterday were my glass and silicone lids, also this cookbook.

I like it...practical and informative, meant for your everyday cook, and include instructions on cooking everything imaginable, adapting favorite recipes for the Instant Pot, etc.

Call me old fashioned, but I like having paper in my hand for reference, especially when learning something new.
