Punching buttons like crazy on the website. May be a lag time? Someone may have beat me to it.

Our site number 2 has been canceled for January 4th and the 5th due too renovations on that loop. We've reserved 1010 bungalow for one night.
We will keep our trailer in the front parking lot.
Ranger Widow is the Topsail State Park customer specialist.
He has been a tremendous help.
Looking forward to meeting y'all,
TommieDee

Wake Up - The Canopener is coming, The Canopener is coming

Hello to all you Canopenians! We’ve all had a bit of a snooze time regarding the fast approaching Canopener 2018, but this is your WAKE UP CALL!

A quick recap of events thus far: 1) Canopener 2018 “official” dates are January 4-8

2)RSVP, if you currently have a reservation at Topsail OR any campground in the area then PLEASE ensure you have RSVPeed on this thread (RSVP link on page 1). You must be the ones to RSVP for yourself, just mentioning your attending on this thread does not an RSVP make If you don’t RSVP then you won’t get any cool and fun stuff, because who doesn’t want stuff?

3) The best, most awesome maps Ever are up to date thanks to thee best, most awesome map maker Ever – Florida 55(thanks Chuck!)

4) Lastly and sadly, Topsail has shut down campsites 1-21 throughout the entire winter of 2018. For those affected by this move I am sincerely sorry for this major inconvenience. But remember, the “silly season” of cancellations will soon be upon us, so there is still hope! Begin to pay very close attention to this thread and be prepared to act Very Quickly when a site opens up. Regarding cancellations: for those who will unfortunately have to cancel, PLEASE post a notice on this thread FIRST and allow one of your fellow Canopenians first shot at the site with RA.

The first very brief schedule of events (always, always remember that the Canopener schedule is like the Pirate Code……..it’s more of a guideline):
Thursday – music nite. Which means I’m officially calling on all you fabulous and talented musicians to pull together your sounds and voices and take the stage on Thursday evening. (Helloooooo you Not Ready For Primtime Airstream Band from 2017!)
Friday – Annual Cornhole Tournament, Chili Feed and……………………….. wait for it………….. the return of the always popular and much loved Maragaritaville Friday, whoop whoop.
Saturday – Breakfast with the ranger, Hike with the ranger, Airstream open house/trailer, and………. Yup, that’s right……………….. the return of Bloody Saturday!
Sunday – Coffee Bar (a new favorite!) and goodbyes.

And now a word from our sponsor…….
Foley RV has once again graciously offered to supply all attendees (those who have rsvpeed that is)
with some parting gifts – we Love those guys!

Stay tuned for more………….

Annette

Annette, lots of good news in your post. I predict another Canopener to remember. We have a great friend in Foley RV. Please everyone let them know how much we appreciate their support.

You do bring a lot of good news, Annette. We are looking forward to returning. We are coming in early this time as it sounded like we missed a lot of fun last year!

Talking We're Baaaaccccckk!

The return of Maragaritaville Friday and Bloody Saturday was just too much to resist. Jen and I have booked cabin 1004 for Friday and Saturday nights. We're really looking forward to seeing old friends again (well, Roadtoaster might be the exception). So, let's get this party started!

Map Updates October 7, 2017

Canopener 2018 is only 3 months away. Cancellations and site shuffling are beginning to occur and I'm trying to keep the maps updated. The latest information on the RSVP page appears below. Three specific callouts:

1) Given the large number of empty spaces, there must be some lurkers who haven't revealed their reservations and sites. Please go on the RSVP page and register your attendance. It will make life much easier for the volunteers.

2) On the Sites 101-168 map I've listed attendees staying at Grayton Beach and the Topsail Hill cabins. If you are going to be in one of those locations, or another area campground, please register on the RSVP page and let us know. I'll get you listed. Also, will "Razorhog" please provide his site number at Grayton?

3) I am aware the park has canceled reservations on sites 1-21 . I still show reservations on sties 3, 7, 9, 12, and 21. If you have been cancelled or been reassigned by the park, please let us know on the RSVP page so I can reflect the true status. Simply scroll to the bottom of the RSVP page, choose the correct status button, and make appropriate changes to the comment box. PLEASE NOTE: You must be logged into your AirForums account to input information on the RSVP page.

Thanks for your help!

Below are links to the maps and the RSVP page:

Chili Feed on Margaritaville Friday

OK guys. It is time to start getting the Canopener Chili Feed organized. The Chili Feed is going to be Friday, January 5, at noon. It will be just before the Corn Hole Tournament and Margaritaville. Friday is going to be a big day!

Below are the items we need folks to sign up for. Just reply to this thread and add your name below and note what you are bringing. Looking forward to another great Canopener. It will be here before we know it! Please have what you are bringing to the clubhouse by 11:00 on Friday. If you have trouble adding to this list, just note what you are bringing and I will add you.

Also, we are looking for chili wranglers to help us with setup and limited cleanup before and after the chili feed. We will have libations to quench your thirst as you help us!

APPETIZERS AND CHILI CONDIMENTS (chips, grated cheese, fritos, or whatever you like to add to your chili):
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
ETC

CHILI AND CHILI VARIETIES (we always have a wide variety with some sounding a little adventuresome!)
1. Texas Sausage Chili con Queso - Judy & Michael Shelley
2.
3.
4.
5.
ETC

DESSERTS (because what is a chili feed without dessert!)
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
etc

PAPER/PLASTIC PLATES, BOWLS AND SILVERWARE (this has traditionally been available at the chili feed so folks don't have to bring their own.)
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
ETC

CHILI WRANGLERS (help with setup and limited cleanup after)
1.
2.
3.
4.
etc

Jackie&Don. Put us down for “Into the Mystic Chili” and we will gladly be chili wranglers.

Beetlebob and I have to cancel as well. We were at Grayton Beach, Site 23. We will be heading back west in November, so won't be near Florida come January.

Have fun!
