GM 0%/72 mo...my Wife's gonna kill me

Oh boy, here we go; GM just announced 0 % for 72 mo...been considering trading in the Burb for a D/A. This might be the chance!
Sure would be nice towing with that diesel...

I'll get some numbers from the dealer this afternoon,

It's my understanding that this is only for the 2006 models and the offer unless extended ends in very early July, so if yer gonna bite, now is the time!

For all of you that already pull with a D/A-what can I realisticaly expect for mpg?

Both towing and not towing, it would be nice to get real world figures.

... pulled the trigger on an 06 2500 HD Chevy yesterday.
Had my 02 in to the dealer for oil change etc, and had a tire starting to thump so I had all four tires balanced and rotated.
Mine has almost 125K on it now so it's time for a replacement.
We got so far as me applying for the note - had all the numbers figured out -
new truck + tax and license minus trade in.
Got cold feet just as they put the papers in front of me.
Gonna go see my tax lady today and see if I need the deduction.
Came pretty close though yesterday. 0% X 72 mo is a good deal.
This incentive lasts till 7/7 so I might get one yet.

My GMC 2500 HD Sierra has the larger 2006 LBZ engine -- 60 more horsepower and one step further along for working with low sulfur diesel fuels. As a price for the extra power I don't think I get as good mileage as previous generation engines. Speed will be your biggest variable. Towing at about 62mph I have gotten as low as 13mpg. At 50mph (tow break-in) I was getting around 17mpg. There are many good diesels out there from the last decade. For instance, ALANSD just made the transition from motorhome to trailer and found a good '97 truck.

We took the tumble on Friday and picked up a GMC 2500HD. 6.0L & 4.10 rear end, crew cab. Only 150 miles so far. Not supposed to tow for the first 500 miles. So I have a jag of concrete (old patio) on it for delivery in the morning. What a way to break it in! Box is all lined with old carpet until the BedRug arrives. And my son gets to drive it with the load as we also loaded the S-10 with a bit and he doesn't drive a stick. Darn.

I am very iompressed with it so far. Very quiet.

If you don't take the 0% for 72, they have (had, sale over 7/5/06) some good cash discounts, 3500 in our case.

Now we will be properly powered for our 31' Classic. Head out for 3 weeks starting end of July. Had a '99 Suburban K1500. Will miss it a lot.

Wife retires in under 3 years. Alaska, here we come!

We have an o4, 2wheel drive 2500 chev DA. with 24k miles. Our towing mileage 14-15 mpg . Non towing 23-25 mpg. This is towing an 06 30' Classic.
I drive very conservatively, no hard acceleration, 60-62 mph.

As a PS to my previous post, my o4 has considerably less HP and torque than the new engine models. Most of whom I talked with that have the new get slightly less mileage as a trade off. That said, mine has more power than needed for my use. -----pieman

I was just thinking. GM has that active fuel management for gas motors. Don't know if it's possible, but that sure would be nice for these big diesels when you weren't towing anything.

We are getting 14-16 towing with 2800# in the van. 18-21 MT with our 2006 3500 Express van w/Duramax-4L80E combo. This version is rated at 250bhp and 460 ft.lbs torque. Towing a 2005 22' CCD. Seems to do OK and I'm quite happy with it. Has scads of room when mt to haul all kinds of things to the wilderness!!

Love my D/A. Milage is sensitive to driving style. In stop and go traffic coming home this weekend it pulled up hill on idle.

I've had mine (2004 Silverado 2500HD D/A) for 2 years and love it. I get 18-19 on its own, and 13 or so towing my 25' Safari. Except when towing against the wind in Kansas. Then I could watch the fuel gauge drop.

As for hp and torque - it is the 6.6 liter, don't know which engine, however. Like Over59, the danged thing will idle itself uphill. Plenty of torque for me.

Well after several days of pulling my hair out (not much left as it is!) We have a nice truck coming our way; LBZ/CC Black w/ Charcoal Interior. Should be sharp!

They are really moving fast due to the 0% and all the speculation about the 07 diesels. It was hard to find a truck we wanted, it is coming from 2 states away!

Hope it gets here soon, as we are leaving tomorrow on a 300 mile trip!

2005 D/A 2500hd extended cab 4wd Avg 17mpg local.20mpg at 70mph and as high as 27 at 50mph.Just towed a 78 30' argosy and avg 16mpg for the trip

Congrats on the new truck. You're gonna love all that torque! By the time you get her broken in, around 20K miles, you'll notice the change in mpg.
