Radio/Light Interface???

Here's one for the books. I have a replacement AM/FM radio in my A/S. I can turn it on and it works for a little while just fine but then...... the volume goes down and it gets static. Turning up the volume does not do anything. BUT..... if you go to the bedroom area and turn the ceiling light on to all six bulbs the radio will suddenly be OK!

This fix only lasts about 10 minutes and then it goes down again and turning on all the lights won't change a thing.

I think I have a gremlin from a PO.

What do you think???

Ciao, Brian

Who ya gonna call. Gremlin buster's

B,

Need more data.

Is this with battery only?

Plugged into 110?

Anything else turned on?

When did you 1st notice concern? After the radio was replaced? Why was the radio replaced?

Does your radio have an amplifier/booster? Cassette? CD?

When the radio volume "goes down" for the second time, do the lites get dim too?

Do you have a voltmeter?

B,

When the volume goes down does it make a difference if it is on AM or FM?

How old is the battery?

How old is the radio, would you guess? Is it an 8-track radio?

With the trailer plugged in (110v), what is the voltage at the battery with nothing on? (no refer, no lites, nothing)

Are the wires to the radio accessible? If so what is the voltage at the radio? (with radio off)

Then turn on radio, and looking for voltage at batt and radio for both times the sound fades. ~~~~~ Do the routine - turn on, sound fades, measures voltage, turn on lites, sound fades, measure voltage.
