Yeah, but he's got a tall fence!

It's just below freezing, only a fraction of a degree, after lows of 23. There is between 5 and 6 inches of snow on the ground. Not much is moving in Little Rock today.

Hmmm. Weatherman just said we'll hit -20F tomorrow morning. We'll see how close he got with that one. In any event, I'm glad I finished the plowing today!

Unfortunately, the weatherman was right. It's cold.

It was supposed to go to -13˚ this morning, but the thermometer only read -.4. I don't know which is correct, but I do know it's cold. Our wood supply is getting low. We had 5" of snow over a day and a half over the weekend—24.5" so far this winter.

Save that wood, Gene, in case a power outage. If you're using propane, make sure you get it filled while the roads are passable. (We got caught in the conundrum a couple of years ago: Very low on wood, propane tank inaccessible.)

We are about down to about a week and a halfs worth of wood. Seriously thinking of using the electric heat i case the power goes out as it does frequently this time of year. Sal.

Just waiting for another airplane which we can fly back across the pond. Milano has had five days of cold rain which suppressed the desire to go out and see all that we can. Oh well, the bright point is that I will be compensated for some of the extra time. That in turn will help pay for my axle repairs.

Probably not the right place for this, but I am getting tired of the winter and spending way too much time on this computer thingy. Sal.

Lynn, we haven't lost power for more than a few hours in the past 10+ years. I think that has happened twice. Our electric co-op provides better service and maintenance than any electric provider I have ever had. I notice that over recent years private electric companies seem to be getting worse and worse and outages lasts for days and days.

Yes, we will hold back some wood and we do have a 1,000 watt generator for some things—note— don't plug a generator into the house system as it backfeeds into the power lines and does bad things.

Yesterday it was warmer here than down in the valleys—full scale inversion occurring. When we left home at 11:30 am it was 16˚ and 1,500' below in Hotchkiss it was 10˚. Friends in Grand Junction tell us it's much colder there too. Last year there were weeks of inversions and my doctor told me they had an increase in asthma symptoms in the dirty air.

It's up in the 20's at midday and some snow may come this weekend.

We've certainly seen those inversions over there, Gene. When my parents lived near Paonia, we'd go down to GJ to shop -- and discover incredible heat in the summer, incredible cold in the winter.

Today we had a gorgeous 75 degree day with plenty of Sunshine. I do not miss the cold and snow at all.

OK, it's possible to be out in -30˚ F without hat and gloves or -30˚ C (-22˚ F), but why? I've done it for short periods of time, but try really hard not to because it hurts. I guess during winter in Yellowknife there's much to do but drink and watch water turn into ice crystals (not evaporate). OK, I'm being snarky but it's the best I can do on a Saturday night. And Yellowknife is a cool place to go (in the summer).
