Door latch

I have a leather looking door that closes next to the galley to close off the bedroom bunks. It looks like it has a small magnet to catch at the door post. This door is stiff and springs back,not closing. Does anyone have any ideals on how to make this work and look neat and finished. What went there? Do I need new magnets? Can I get new ones? I appreciate your help. Have a great day.

I took one of the 3/4" by 1/8" thick super magnets and just added it to the current magnetic catch. I was just testing it to see if it would be sufficient. The magnet grabbed and is still in use.
