VIAIR Questions

Didn't want to hijack the other "winterizing on the road" thread ... So ...

Has anyone upgraded the hose on the VIAIR 450? I read complaints about the hose being too stiff and brittle in colder temps-- important for winterize game in cooler we. I read the 4-page manual and it said to be sure to use a 200 psi hose that is rated for high temps because the compressor gets hot. ... But I'm not seeing anything about higher temp hoses ... Plenty of higher pressure hoses, but nothing about them handling heat. Also, has anyone checked the stock pressure gauge against a calibrated master? Just wondering if it's accurate to within a 1/2 pound... Thanks! Rich

I see that no one answered your question. I'm not sure I can answer it, but...

I have the Viair 88p. It came with a better hose, I think. It's not the hard plastic yellow one but the softer, black rubber hose that is easier to manage and won't get brittle in freezing temps. It does get very hot at the compressor end after five minutes of run time as I was blowing out the water in the AS. But it seems to work well.

Buy a hose at HD or Lowes. I have an extra 25' one that I can use directly or as an extension.

Thanks guys -- I completely forgot about this post. I have the standard hose that came with it, but will just get a straight hose from the big box store. Have a great day and again, thanks for getting back.
