Question Mexican Insurance Questions, Questions!

Howdy Airstreamers!

I understand that Mexico does not recognize American insurance policies. So we are bound to purchase a Mexican insurance policy for our tow vehicle and trailer. Here is the rub. I can't find anyone who will insure our vintage truck and trailer.... I can get liability, but cannot get full coverage for vintage.

Anyone else ever overcome this issue? Would love to know who you used! My insurance company recommended mexicaninsurance.com and the man I spoke with was great, loves airstreams! But he can only offer me liability coverage.

I have full coverage here in the states, it took a little doing, but got it done. Hummmmmmmm, here is a business opportunity for someone!

Well, post any and all recommendations, would like to know what fellow Airstreamers have done!

You might want to call Uwe at www.area63productions.com.... he's gone to Baja many times... I'm sure he'd have some tips.

I have used Lewis and Lewis: Lewis and Lewis - The Best Mexican Auto Insurance. I have not had a claim but they came recommended from friends that have lived 6 mos/yr in the La Paz area. I spoke with them in December about insuring my TV and '68 Trade Wind. I'll update my post if I can find what they quoted me.

First I want to invite you to stop on your way if you come down the mainland just south of Puerto Vallarta and stay with us at www.ranchosolymar.com the world's first all off grid solar campground. Secondly, I want to say that we have been using Lewis and Lewis for our truck and camper. We keep the vintage "Sylvia" up here in New England and use the Sun Lite Pop Up and a Coleman Laredo tow behind pop up in Mexico. Hope to see you, travel safely and enjoy!

I'll second the Lewis and Lewis suggestion. They are great!

I should mention I've only used them for a truck and slide in camper combo, but I'm sure they cover trailers too.
