Shower faucet distress
Does anyone know which Moen (single-handle, pull-on) shower faucet model number was used in 1976? Don't have any history on our unit and I'm trying to repair a leaky faucet.
Pulled the cartridge and discovered the O-rings are still pretty good, but this model had something akin to 2 rubber gaskets on the far end of the cartridge. This is the part (both of them) that is shot and leaking.
Any ideas? Thanks all,
Ashley.

Airstream P/N 600337 or Moen P/N 2620 if it's the same as my '77
And if installed backwards, as my PO did, it results in Hot, Hotter and scalding as the temperature options

Hope you have better luck than I did. Took out my kitchen single lever cartridge and went to a plumbing supply. A plumber with 25 years experience told me it was a mystery unit, neither Moen or Delta.
My manual said Moen or Delta but, wasn't.
I dread the day I have to remove & replace the shower faucet.
Best of luck.

I was told by a member that Moen has a lifetime warranty and if you call them they will replace the parts for free. I didnt find out until after we had gone to lowes and bought the parts. It would be worth a call.

The only thing worse than finding out you could have waited a few days for a free replacement is spending the bucks and discovering the old one was ok, just installed wrong

Thanks everyone.
Moen P/N 2620 has (after 30 years) been discontinued, but still shows up in a search on Moen's website. The replacement model is available and I found the illustrated parts breakdown and ID'd the problem part. There is no seals "kit" but the entire replacement cartridge (1200 or 1225) is less than $20 at Home Depot.
Since I don't have time to wait on Moen (Thanksgiving departure in T minus 5 days), it's a small price to pay for peace among the traveling for 10 days.
Thanks again -- Ashley.

Not all are Moen..
Just a reminder note for owners of late 80's models...
Airstream used Nibco shower valves for a while, rather than Moen. Nibco valves had clear plastic knob and small black release gizmo to set as "stops" for normal hot water temp... Valve rotates from cold to hot, at constant flow. Needs small hex/allen wrench to adjust, and then just fails and leaks..
Nibco is gone now, but Brasscraft makes replacement cartridge.. See post http://www.airforums.com/forums/235706-post9.html Much easier than fighting to replace entire valve in closed in space...
