There are freestanding, portable swamp cooler type room coolers. In the southwest roof mounted swamp coolers are the rule over AC. They work well in dry heat, not humid conditions.

So....what I am gathering here...is....yes a very small window ac would cool a small 13 ft space? If a insulated a cabinet space and did a floor drain tube/pan??? There is no danger in enclosing? If we heat with a teeny tiny ceramic heater...why wouldn't this work? I am thinking of doing the same thing for a little fiberglass vintage camper. I do not want to cut a hole in the fiberglass. There is plenty of space around the perimeter of the little egg on the floor. Forgive me....I haven't gone to all the posted links. Just in a little bit of a hurry. DEFINITELY do not want something hanging out of a window.

They only have to hang out when in use. Not near as bad as it sounds.
How about paying only $200 for your new window AC with remote control?
Or $50 for a used one on CL?
I mounted mine on a slide-out shelf in the location where my furnace used to live. The furnace cover is mounted onto the shelf, so it looks original from the outside.

I was in Wal Mart yesterday. They have an 8000 btu portable unit for $200.00 . I would think 8K btu would be enough for a small trailer.
