looking for help with Magic chef oven pilot light

Hi, I have run into an issue with the pilot light in my '69 Overlander Magic Chef oven. The pilot tries to light but sputters and sputs and blows itself out. If I turn the oven on slightly, the secondary pilot light ignites, heats the thrmocouple and the burner lights just fine. It will take the oven up to temperature very accurately but, by then, the pilot has gone out and the gas shuts off. Is the pilot just dirty? What causes the constant sputtering?

figgered it out. The pilot feed valve just needed a little tweak.

Glad to hear you found the answer to your problem!

I don't know about sputtering, but the thermocouple should be considered a consumable in gas appliances, certainly those the age of yours and mine.
