I can answer this one for you.....see post #7 for as much info as you will find anywhere: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f288...0-a-60484.html

Since our "retirement" schedule allows so much flexibility, we are choosing to stay home over the Memorial Day weekend......even turned down tickets to the Indy 500......at which the festivities are always a wonderful tribute to Memorial Day, even if one doesn't like racing.

Everyone be safe this weekend.....fly those flags proudly and take a moment to reflect on the many sacrifices made by our uniformed members. Freedom has never been "free".....so, if you happen to run across a vet this weekend......shake their hand.....you can't imagine what an impact that small personal gesture of "thanks" has on someone.

Ron

We are leaving today to head out to Nehalem Bay State Park on the Oregon Coast. We're going with a group of about 30 friends & family; we do this every year. This is our second time at this park; last year we were lucky enough to have beautiful, sunny and warm weather. This year it looks like we'll have scattered showers and temperatures in the upper 50's to low 60's. Still, it will be a wonderful trip and we can't wait to get there!

Thank you to all of the men & women who have served in our armed forces - especially those who paid the ultimate price. We will be thinking of you this weekend.

Have a safe trip, everyone!

I am glad it is still clear, and I hope it stays that way for the folks in the Destin area. We plan on rescheduling that trip for next year, but we have never been to the Florida beaches before, and just wondered how you liked Camping on the Gulf in particular. Does Topsail have a website?
This trip was primarily for our daughter who loves the ocean/beach. We had camped here about six years ago and she wanted to go back. If your primary interest is camping on/near the beach this is one of a very few in the Destin area where you can do so. A little pricey, but the campground is well run and all staff were very nice. We were 3rd row from the beach at $122/night. Sites are more expensive in rows 1 & 2, and less expensive as you move towards the street. Very accessible pedestrian/walkway for those long morning rides/walks. My personal camping preference/price is more along the lines of Topsail but, hey, my daughter thinks I'm the greatest (for a few days). I believe I saw a post that answers your question about Topsail's web site.

Will spend the weekend flying the flag from the new northern Nevada compound, boondocking.

I am writing this as I sit among many boxes at our daughter and her family's home in Oakland. We are here on this Holiday weekend to help with their move into their very first home with a mortgage. No more complaining to landlords! Just as well that we are doing this as our Airstream has a halfway completed new cork floor and our Buick convertible TV is undergoing new body and paint job.

Yes our primary goal is to hang out on the beach. We also carry Hobie kayaks for fun/excercise, and mine has a sail kit which can be a lot of fun with a light breeze. I hope that their beach stays clean, and we are looking forward to trying it again next year. I did go to the topsail website and it looks pretty nice too, and still within walking/biking range of the beach.

Have a safe Holiday!

where are we going this weekend?

on Saturday, only as far as the driveway! but we'll be on the roof of the Safari, replacing the original roof vents with two new Fantastic Fans! then, a wash & wax.

maybe to the shore for the day on Sunday?

but on Monday, to watch the parade and stand quietly and with respect to our many friends and family, and to all those others who serve, and have served this great land, preserving and protecting all of us and the lives we so richly enjoy.

best,

You probably saw this on their web site, but the campground also has a tram that takes you to the beach.
