Goodbye to my best friend Jake

Yesterday Jeanne and I had to say goodbye to our much loved travel buddy, Jake. He was pushing 14. Prior to January 2014, Jake had never been outside our neighborhood. That all changed once we purchased our 2013 Flying Cloud. Then off to Alaska, an unbelievable trip to Newfoundland and the Atlantic Provinces and last winter in the South West. He traveled with us on a recent trip to Florida in our new to us 2008 30 Classic LTD. We will always cherish those memories.

Jeanne always referred to Jake as our Goodwill Ambassador. Everywhere we went, Jake was always approached by old and young alike, wanting to pet him and say hello. It was something he always loved.

I will miss him forever.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved Jake.

His spirit will surely continue to travel with you, as he would not be interested in being left behind.

This is the only bad thing about having a dog. Good boy Jake.

Been there, done that too many times. It hurts every time.
But the great times and happy memories will eventually outweigh the grief.
Our commiserations to you.
Our advice: don't wait too long before you find another companion. Life is too short to be without a dog.

Where To Bury a Dog

John,

Sorry to hear of your loss. He looked like a great travel companion. The following article was written by Ben Hur Lampman in 1927, I believe. It is the best thing I've found for times of loss like yours.
