Saying goodbye to a dear, dear friend.....
It's with the utmost sadness that I share with you all the loss of my dearest friend and companion, Penny, my German Shepard mix.
Some of you had met Penny over the years at the Midwest Rally. She was absent this past year due to her not being able to travel well.
She will be sorely missed, more than words can describe........

Oh, no! Such sadness. Don't let your grief rob you of the memories of the joys you shared.

Sweet Penny. What a nice picture of her hanging out in the trailer. We're so sorry for you...

I feel your loss. I have a 13 year old Border Collie . He's having a very hard time even getting up from the floor but I can't bring myself to having him put down. We love this dog as a member of the family and when it's his time he will be missed as such..

Saying goodbye to a dear, dear friend.....
Every day I ask God why our pets don't get to live as long as we do and then I realize that they do....just in our memories. I look forward to being with each and every one of them again on the other side.
My thoughts are with You and Your dear pet.

I know all too well the emptiness you will feel for a long while and my heart goes out to you as tears run down my cheeks. Nothing and no one can replace our dear K9 friends. As Penny shared her life with you she will remain in your heart through sweet wonderful memories. Not even death can take that away.

It’s amazing how much a part of our families pets become, isn’t it Eric? We lost our “Chorney” in February, 2005. She was a Black Lab that was born in February, 1990. We had just finished a tour of duty overseas and when we came back to the states I promised the kids we would buy a house with a big ol’ fence out back and get a dog. About two months after we got to Texas, I was driving by a Veterinarians office near our house after work one day and the Vet had a big pen out front with a litter of labs with a big ol’ sign that said “free, come adopt me”. Well, I drove home, picked up the kids and went right back there. I tossed the kids in the pen with the puppies and said “pick one out”. Naturally, they picked the runt of the litter! For the next 15 years, she was as much a part of the family as “anybody” else. I have to admit, putting her down was one of the low points in my life. And the kids’ as well. They didn’t want to see her go, and neither did I. But it was time.
I’m right there with you. I know the loss you are feeling right now. After a time, you will want another “best friend”. It’s ok. We now have “Scraps”, a red mixed something-or-other. He’s laying at my feet as I type. Hang in there.
Jim

Eric, y'all have my deepest condolences. If you have a back yard, you can do what we did when our pet passed away, which was get a small memory stone with her name engraved on it, and place it under a tree. It helped to be able to focus on that point when we started thinking...

We are very sorry for your loss. I am sure you provided her a loving and wonderful home, in return she gave you joy and happiness. You will have many memories of her but it is tough as we all know as animal lovers to let go. Look to the future and find another friend - there is one out there that needs you as much as you need them.

How very sad for you folks today. The hurt runs deep. Our little Cricket passed last October after 21 years (cats do live a bit longer sometimes) and I still look for her when I come in the house. She's got a big spot in our hearts as Penny has in yours, and with that memory they continue to live. Wounds heal, but fortunately the memories remain for as long as we wish to keep them. This past 12 months seems to have been a hard one on a lot of our forums community's pets.

We have a photo wall in our house and all our pets have a frame of their own with pictures of them in it. Some just have a couple pictures, some, like Alki, have a bunch. There are pictures of our human family up there as well, some of which are no longer with us. It's a comfort to walk through the hall and glance at the pictures of our loved ones who have been gone a while and for a second remember the great times we had together. But the pictures are right there with the ones who are still with us, so it's not all sad. That's my remembrance area.

My condolences to you and yours. Penny is now free of pain and I like to think that she is waiting for your re-union at the bridge.
Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

We're saddened to hear of your loss. Penny was undoubtably a great travel and home companion for many years. A little part of you will never again be whole, but you are richer for having shared your life with her.
Rest well, Penny
