With gas over $4.00 a gallon if the app saves me one it has paid for itself. 4.99 doesn't seem like too much when compared to the cost of the AS.

I know it's only been a week or so since you downloaded the app.... any comments?

I checked out their web site and it certainly is packed with information. However, there seem to be lots of filters to turn on and off. Does the user get used to that quickly? I may be talking jibberish since I haven't actually seen the app interface - just the web interface.

Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks, Lucius

Lucius, I don't turn on any of the filters so I see everything. If I'm looking at a large area it might get overwhelming that way but I haven't found it to be a big problem. We use it when we're on a trip, and on a planned route. I can look ahead on the route to look at campgrounds and see how far away they are. So for example, yesterday Brad and I were driving from Michigan to Jackson Center. We knew we didn't want to try to get all the way to Jackson Center so I scrolled down highway 75 and found some campground icons. I clicked on them and saw that they were about 2 hours away - perfect! The app gives you a short description (ie 40 tent site, 30 RV sites with elec and water) and then has links to the campground website, campground pictures, campground reviews. It even has a link to press that will dial the campground. I looked at the websites and chose one. Called - they were having a Halloween parade )in the pouring rain!) and the roads were closed. So, I went to look at another, called and they had sites. We arrived 2 hours later and set up.
I also have the app on my ipad so can look for campgrounds when where planning a trip or planning ahead.

This app is so worth it! I really recommend you purchase it. If you're going to falluminum next weekend, I can show you what it looks like.

Allstays has been recommended to us by several full-timers. I paid the 4.99 and it seems very worth it's weight in gold. We are about to embark on our maiden voyage that will be cross country. I plan to live by Allstays and will write a blog post about my experience.

Thanks for the comments. I know $10 is not much for something like this that can be so useful. However, to date - with nearly two years of iPhone use - we've never found the need for an app that wasn't free. Sounds crazy I know. Guess I'll get out the credit card!

Regarding Falluminum... we're going to a USF football game. It's homecoming and we always make an effort to attend that game. Maybe we'll see you at Springstream or sooner.

That's because you don't utilize your IPhone to it's full potential.

Used both apps on iPhone and iPad traveling alone with pup this August from Virginia to Washington. Both a great help, especially digging a bit further into reviews.

The reviews helped round out the picture for example with noting facts that a camp ground had had ownership taken over by the Yogi Bear enterprise: not an experience that a 60 year old yearns for. Also most reviewers noted cleanliness, friendliness of the operations, noise factors such as being next to interstate, etc.

Am sure these apps saved a lot go gas by taking me right to the check in area rather than wandering aimlessly in unfamiliar areas.

Neither one gave a complete picture but when used in combination, priceless.

Hope this is helpful.

Bought this app for our android phones before our trip to Canada. It was a great help! The reviews are a great help.

Do any of you who use this app also carry a directory book (such as Woodall's or Trailer Life directory)? I would like the app for quick reference. However, I think I would still like the larger resource to break a tie. We have come to rely heavily on Trailer Life's rating system.

The Android version of the Allstays app was recently updated to include steep grade and runaway truck ramp info, for a few states (including Maryland - check out I-68!), for free. Nice addition, and they said more states are on the way.

Been using this app for 9 months and love it. Found stuff so much easier than searching the web.

We've been using Allstays for over six months. We like it so far and have very few problems - one outdated phone number, one wrong address, one out of business.

Also, excellent Canadian coverage. We've got both the iPhone and Android version, both are excellent.

I'm find that online reviews are less and less useful and not very objective. For instance, if you have kids, you might like the fact that there's a playground. On the other hand, a kid friendly park can be a PIA for someone else. Same park, two different opinions.

I especially like the ones that give you the "best camping spots". Talk about subjective.

We rather recently added the Allstays app to our Ipad, and like that it includes so many things besides campgrounds.

We still love and use the CampWhere app for all the public campgrounds, from county and city to BLM, NF, NP, etc. It is WONDERFUL.

I especially like that CampWhere allows you to star on the map campgrounds you have selected or have been to and liked.

There are several camping apps out there... I've used this one for a while and it's a great little app, (I paid $5 for my 'droid). I'm getting ready to embark on a cross country trip so it will get a good workout.

Big fan of Allstays. So easy to use and I've found it very accurate. Probably have selected 14 sites since May, and all were accurately described.
