greetings and electrical problem

Hello,
I am new to RV living (full-time) and have had a number of problems in this 1st month. Currently my convertor is no longer coverting or charging. the blue wire connection at the top of the panel marked positive is slightly burned looking. before this one cold night (15 degF), the LP detector started chirping and went yellow, indicating a dc fault. I am currently running lights off the batteries that are hooked to a charger.

We bought an Airstream thinking we'd have no problems during our home construction, but have so far been very disappointed. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks you.

Hello, and welcome to the forums. I'm guessing you've reset the 12-volt breaker at the panel? If so, and the wire is burned looking, then it appears a short to ground has developed somewhere along that circuit. If there is indeed a short present, resetting the breaker probably won't be possible, as it will just trip again. However, if you are able to reset, or was not tripped to begin with, your problem is likely a failure at the converter - which would be unusual with a fairly new trailer, but not out of the realm of possibility.

What other problems are you having? You've come to the right place for help!

Hello Bill -- and welcome to the Forums! Anybody recognize this issue?

This sounds like an unusual problem. The furnace doesn't pull a lot of watts so I don't know that the cold nights are at fault. My Parallax converter's owner guide is skimpy on illustrations -- but you're talking about the breaker panel? My Safari is also stored at a different location so I can't run out and try to compare. Would it be possible to post a digital photo to show us the location of the blue wire? What is the maintenance history? What has been unhooked or changed? Please give us the sequence of discovery and attempted remedies if you could.

In the meantime we'll see if the busier afternoon-evening period brings any recognition from members. Thanks!
