Am owner of '65 Avion camper w/ 66 IH 1300 AWD both of which I've had many years. Joined to learn from member experience w/ external panel replacement and riveting. Other than sleeping in my Avion during move here (MIA) from San Francisco, I've not camped in it. During the past 40 yrs I've been an indep. traveller and hiker throughout Africa, Madagascar & the Americas. Decline in our national reputation and dollar exchange rate, among other factors has caused me to reconsider travel abroad in favor of a Miami/Alaska trip which I hope to begin in the summer. In addition, I've read some postings about an Africa caravan & would think starting in Tangiers and travelling down the west coast would be safer-Egypt would be dicey. All talk of sanitary insufficiencies, AIDS etc. is nonsense-I have found Africans throughout the continent to be the most hospitable of people. I'd be interested in going, if an old IH w/ older Avion atop it won't be seen to lower property values. Perhaps I could travel last in line.
