I replaced my boat wood floor couple years ago and replaced it with fiberglass. I used a piece of mylar and traced out the pattern with a marker. It was an exact fit when done and saved a whole bunch of time.

Adjustable arc.
AlvinÂ*Adjustable Curves : DEW Drafting Supplies
This looked interesting. I wonder if it would work for the curves in our beloved Airstreams?

Ok I'm ready to have the replacement frame pieces made.
The crossmembers measured about .o8o
Is this correct? ?? It sure seems thin.
What did others use?

Broke my digital camera too. It slipped out of my hand and hit a very soft spot on the old floor.
Darn it!

The original crossmembers that I've measured were .090" thick, & when we have new ones fabricated, we have them done from .125" thick material.

Colin do you use .125 on the pieces of 1.5 x 1.5 angle that run from front to back between crossmembers?
Is it ok to add one of these in the bath area? My Caravel did not have one and seems like a good spot for one.
Thank you!

Earlier 60's trailers & the 50's era trailers didn't have the center stringers that you refer to. They are a good idea to stiffen the floor a bit, but not absolutely necessary. We typically removed the portion hanging down in order to install grey tanks.
Thanks,
Colin

Shell on, so far so good.
I hope to have the newly fabricated frame parts by this coming weekend.
Today I worked on cleaning up the cabinetry.

Are you going to have the wheel wells replaced? Most fab shops can make good ones and you have the shell on? More pictures please if you would.
Thank you cliff

Yes shell is on.
Right now I am very frustrated trying to find some one to fab up the outriggers and crossmembers.
Yes new wheel wells are planned too.
First things first though.

The local a.c. shops can do the wheel wells but not the frame parts.
I have one place left to check tonight.
Thunder and lightning this morning.

I picked up the metal at lowes and had the fabricator bend it for me then I used a hack saw and cut it myself! You are doing an awesome job so keep looking and you will find a source!

Woot woot! I found a shop that took my drawings and will make the parts for the frame repair.
In theory I can pick them up in a week.

Awesome job knew that you could now stay on them so it happens and remember you are paying so it is not out of place for friendly reminders! I had a welder that made the flipping yoke took 4 months and then did it in a week when I said long enough!
Pictures please

I picked up a pallet full of frame parts on Thursday as promised.
A shout out to Always Welding!
After haircolor this morning I will start removing and replacing frame pieces.
Now it feels like I'm getting some where.
I found a retired sheet metal guy to do my wheel wells and he may fab a fridge scoop too.

I am guessing silver to match the airstream? Cool at least you have the weather for working on yours I have renamed our to titanic as after the downpours I run out dry up water and look for the leaks! Got to find the other 2 then maybe no more puddles.
Cliff
Yes I said that! Or did I?

Silver looks awesome on an Airstream but I try to keep my silvers at bay. Its all smoke and mirrors.
I got the front 2 outriggers welded in yesterday before the rain ended my fun.
While I did the welding my friend Sue came by again and she did some cabinetry refinishing.
A great day all in all.
Rain this morning. :-(
