We think it might be fun to organize a Nashville Rally on the weekend of 29th October 2011, and have a couple of caravans come in from different geographical areas to meet up there.
It's just an idea!
More broadly, we think there's an art to organizing a rally and we'd like to write a howto so first-time rally organizers have some guidance.
What's important in a rally's organization to you? Want to organize a rally?
Right. I was thinking, if the Natchez Trace caravan ends up there ANYWAY, and if someone else has a caravan come in from the northeast to end there the same weekend, maybe along the Blue Ridge Parkway or the Smokies... And we all get together in Nashville for the weekend *grins*
It would make a nice "Fall in Nashville" season-ender.
We recently stayed at Percy Priest Lake at the Seven Points Recreational Area Campground. They had very large lake front campsites. It looked like recent improvements and updates had been done to the sites, probably since the flood. It was a well maintained campground. We were about 15 minutes away from Vanderbilt. Did you have a location in mind for the Rally?
I just checked out the Seven Points area. Have never been in that neck of the woods, but it sounds very promising. Reading about the plans for the Natchez Trace caravan followed by a rally will definitely help me get through this winter in snowy cold Iowa.
My first time entering Iowa was interesting. I crossed the state line, and for the next three miles, at every single dip there was a state trooper with a radar or laser gun. They had a production line in a layby issuing tickets to out-of-state folks. I didn't see a single Iowa tag in the 12-15 vehicles in front or behind me.
They checked all my paperwork, then tried to tell me I was speeding. I denied the charge, and told them I had a GPS with data logging that had a good record of my entire trip, and they let me go. I also had an SOB in tow - this was in my pre-aluminitis days.
The rest of the state was LOVELY. It was fall. I'd love to visit again next year!
