Deb,
I am done flying for the season. I have been working on airplanes for the past two weeks and expect to be doing that for another three.
I will be taking a couple years off from flying fire to build hours. I want to get into tankers and need many more hours. I am not geting them fast enough in my current job.

Yup, next week !
Been holding off on washing the AS with the Fires and all. AS is turning brown from the ash. Hopefully this weekend there will be normal winds and the AS can be cleaned and waxed!

Can we lend a hand....
Hello everyone. Lauryn, Gabe and I are looking forward to seeing everyone in Kernville. How lucky can one family get...cowboy bar one weekend and an indian pau' wau the next?
We are not sure if our property in Running Springs was toasted. However, some friends (married just 2 weeks ago) are pretty sure that their nest has been destroyed.
So here's the deal...we've offered our AS for them to use as temporary housing if necessary. Outside of the great trips with you guys, Tim Can sits in storage. My question to the rest of the AS community is, "If you are not using your AS, can you make it available to someone in need?" If you can, or know of someone who can, let me know.
If there is enough interest, I may be able to get an LA County and/or USFS friend (w/ clout) to make the appeal to a much larger audience. There are many families who have found themselves homeless. In all honesty, if it were me, the only other place that I'd prefer to be is in my AS (or Rio!).

Tim, that's a great idea. I hope your property in Running Springs is safe. Sending positive thoughts to you and your family and friends.
May be you should start a thread on that quest to get more interest from members in the forum.
Look forward to seeing you, Lauryn and Gabriel next week.

Tim, See if I can help
Try this:
Click on the "forums" on top of the page
Then within the "Our Community" category, click on "Off Topic Forum"
Once you're in the Off Topic Forum list, on the right hand side (under the page numbers), click on "Forum Tools", scroll down, the first one is "Post a New Thread". Click on that, and you are directed to start your own thread. The rest is self explanatory.
Good luck.
