California Streamers Summer Rally
OK everybody.....who is up for a Summer Rally along the coast in California. One of our usual suspects has suggested OceanMesa near Santa Barbara, or possibly Malibu RV in of course, Malibu. Any other suggestions?
As for dates, to avoid a holiday rate bump, sometime after 4th of July, maybe the second or third week of July.
If anybody has any connections with a park that would like to host a forums rally, please raise your hand. My guess is that we could get at least 20 Airstreams together, maybe more!
I am sure there is some way to set up a poll and some kind of link.....but my fingers are too stubby to pull it off. Sooooooo...until someone with better skills steps in, the thread is open for discussion and ideas.

I have question(s)... Is "California Streamers" a club? Would outsiders (we lived in LA environs for 36 years) be able to join your group?
Have you considered Chula Vista RV Resort?

California Streamers is not a club, just a description to help us identify an area for rallying. There have been a few rallies in CA where a bunch of folks from the forum have gotten together to enjoy their Airstreams and have fun. The rallies have drawn people from as far away as South Dakota, so everybody is welcome. The NorCal rallies have attracted many of the same people.
We were considering a location for the Summer Rally that would be somewhat central (yes I know Malibu is not very central) to many of the regulars, some of which are in central and nortern CA. Chula Vista may be a bit too far south, but not out of the question....the idea is to get a concensus of attendees....all options are considered.
So basically, this an informal forum rally. Once we get a date and place figured out we will put it on the Forum Rally Calender.
Please, by all means, we would love to see new faces to share the fun.
John

We will be in Dorris, Ca. the first week of July. Other than that We're in!
Hmmm. I wonder if Kevbo would consent to be the official greeter?
Hope to see you there Kistler.

Santa Barbara worked well for the women's rally...it's kind of central-ly. (Also a newly invented word)
I can probably work out a weekend in July but not the 4th.

Kevbo the Greeter has already been contacted via back channel to request his officious greeting skills as well as his keen ability to "draw a crowd". Maybe if we all ask he will grace us with his 7 foot stature.

I think we'll be able to round up the usual suspects.
Just put out the word that there will be Margi Balls, beer, and wine tasting plus Debbie's chocolate lava cake and you'll have to hire the security guard from Casini Ranch for crowd control...

I have 3 day weekends all summer so I am interested. But getting 20-30 sites together at a coastal campground on a summer weekend???? Might be hard (or impossible)...

Maybe but the only way to insure failure is to not try.

We probably won't have 30 sites...
The spontaneous type notreallyrallies are usually smaller which actually is great because you have a chance to talk to everyone.
Let's just pick a spot and a date and let everyone who can come on down-up-over.
I haven't been to Oceana but others are suggesting it's a nice spot???

Got the pm regarding Ocean Mesa being booked weekends through August.
Looks like the fall season for that one.
Lake Cachuma (in Santa Barbara off 154) is first come first served so no reservations. There are lots of sites (tons with hook ups) but probably unlikely that we would all be right next to each other. There are loads of wineries near by...

What about these:
1) San Simeon State Park
2) Montana de Oro by Morro Bay, out past Los Osos (a town)
3) Morro Bay State Park
4) El Capitan (above Santa Barbara)
5) Refugio (above Santa Barbara)
...and, yes, these might be tough to get into in the summer. Will check availability...
Down to one Peep....Help! Anyone know where one could acquire more of them? I gave one to my daughter (21) and one to my son's girlfriend...after all, Peeps are for people. Now we need to find more.

How about the Sierras or the Sierra Foothills
Others have mentioned that finding enough sites or even any sites along the coast can be problematic in the summer. How about going inland? The Sierras or the Sierra Foothills may offer more opportunities for our gatherings.
What do you think?

Montana de Oro is primitive (but very pretty)...no hookups and no large trailers.
Morro Bay, Refugio, and El Cap would be too hard to get into in the summer.
Anyone have ideas where in the Sierras?
