Wow, the days are just wizzing by! My trailer is almost fully polished, just a few more spots to go and then a final pass to make it extra purdy. I just love to check my hairdo and lipstick before I leave the driveway . She'll be making her debut at the Women's Rally, so bring your sunglasses .
Yea, Kristiana! I hope you can join the early birds on Thursday. I'm crossing my fingers. Will you have your cool old retro toaster too? I may need a bagel fix (or two or three) during the weekend.
And, Laurel, if Holly comes with you then I may have to bring my yellow lab, Riley. He's such a sweet, sweet boy. We are taking him 'streaming more and more, and as long as he gets his walks and a few sessions of fetch each day, he's a perfect gentleman in the campground. Although, this is my weekend to be careless and fancy-free (read: no pitter-patter of little animal or kid feet waking me up at O-dark-30) so I may choose to be a wild puppy parent too. We'll see!
Thinking of you all and looking soooo forward to March.
Wow Meredith. I need sunglasses just to view your avatar!
Can't wait to see the shiny silver in person.
Hope the rain is washing mine...at least the big bugs.
i just made my maiden voyage at the Winter Rally at Vail Lake Temecula. great fun and i did my first back up on a grade...assisted of course. anyway, the boys (dogs) did pretty good. my older one Max got a little anxious being left in the trailer during potluck and people's fun. i'm reading here that some of you are leaving the pups at home. well, since i don't realy know what to expect of the womens rally,...like, are there going to be away time from the trailers with outings and other local activities? and if so, should i then leave the boys at home with sitter so they don't have to spend too much time locked up in my little "Buddha" (the trailer). if anyone has some suggestions i'd appreciate it.
thanks, Sandra
Yes, I was thinking the same thing since Riley hasn't been left alone in our trailer for very long before. Last year we mostly hung around the campground, except for a 'field trip' to go wine tasting and shopping, and I suspect this year will probably be the same deal.
Hope that helps!
Maybe Laurel will chime in here since she was the only one with her pooch last year....
Hi all.
It's always a tough call with the dogs.
On the one hand it's nice to have them with us especially when traveling alone.
(Of course in this case we are not alone.)
But it really is a lot easier to let them stay home.
I know not everyone has the option to leave them at home though.
My dogs are pretty comfortable relaxing in the trailer (can't do this in the heat of the summer)
but it makes it a lot more crowded in a small trailer.
Sometimes when there are a lot of dogs it gets pretty crazy.
Yes there are often lots of field trips away from camp to explore the local area or to go out to eat.
And dogs aren't really welcome at the potlucks etc.
Bottom line is, it's your call depending on your dog(s) and how they do when camping or when left alone. And depending on the campground and surrounding area. Many campgrounds don't allow dogs on trails or beaches.
I was dogless at the Albuquerque Balloon Fest because they didn't allow dogs in the fairgrounds and there was too much in the car driving time.
It seems that Lake Casitas is probably somewhat dog friendly. (???)
I'm still undecided but am leaning toward being solo.
Oh... I wish I could make it to this Rally, but it's my Mother's 76th birthday that weekend and I think I would rather bring the barking Toby than my Mother on a camping trip!
Hi Ladies, haven't chime in for a while...I am so glad to see more new comers to the rally. I can't wait.
As for the subject of bringing your love ones (pets or mom), it's all up to you and what's your comfort level is with leaving your love ones in the trailer. I agree with Meredith, even when we venture out, we usually don't leave for the whole day anyway. Deadhead58, bring your mom along, and we guarantee she'll have a great time and we'll have plenty of adult beverage available to make your experience even better!!!
TT will be coming with me, since she loves to hang out at the campground watching birds and little animals walk by. Besides, she can't sleep at night without me around...well...or is it the other way around....

Just kidding about the Moms.
We discussed them at Vail and agreed that they (or was that we?)
might have more fun if they enjoyed themselves at home
while we went camping.

ha...you are right Bam, we did agreed on that one....
One of the reason, we got to Vail as early as we did....
have you gotten any word from Uncle Ralph? if not, quick...do something...

Just back from Lake Casitas
Hey girls-
Sorry for my lack of communication lately- looks like you did a fine job yacking withiut me Hey- I camped at Lake Casitas last weekend- Here'a the scoop:
You guys in FOX..well- let's just say you have an awesome view and concrete pads..NEED I SAY MORE??
Us newbies across the way are a bit less scenic- although we will back up to an open field which is nice..and Fox is within sight..short jaunt across the road.
It has cell phone coverage..very nice, and the lake is really pretty. Santa Barbara is about 30 minutes away..Ojai is a quaint liitle town about 10 minutes away.
Very pet friendly..I took Mazie (Westie) and she loved trying to chase the birds!!
I cannot wait to meet all of you and share the fun of camping..the only way..in an AIRSTREAM!!
Can anyone explain the articles we bring to share..is it a trade thing..what are the rules..if any? Have to be clean???

Bring some excess camping gear, Airstream goodies, decorative or kitchen stuff, whatever...
only if you have extra and only if you want to.
We'll put it all out on a table and you can take whatever you want or can use.
You don't have to bring stuff to take stuff.
It's stuff you don't want anymore and it's all free of course.
Sorry I will miss you ladies as I will be on the road with my Airstream and the El Camino Real Airstream club. If you change the date let me know I would love to meet my west coast sisters.
Whoo Hooo! Giddy up! Time is just whizzing by and before we know it, our ladies rally will be here.
As I write this, I have just finished polishing my rivets. That's right, rivets. Not toenails. Rivets. I spent the whole day shining the nooks and cranies of my trailer after the guys finished the hardcore polishing - and wow, does she ever look flashy! My neighbors say they have to put on their sunglasses before they walk out their front door ! I'm so glad it's done and now I can just sit back and, well, polish my toenails.
I hope those of us at the notreallyarally are having a blast tonight. I wish I was there instead of here soaking the black soot off the ends of my fingers . I think I'll go pour myself a glass of wine, grab my book (Eat, Pray, Love) and sit in my bathtub and sulk. I mean soak.
Uh, Meredith, where do you find those men who are willing to polish the hardcore stuff? You mean you have to PAY them? They don't just do it because they love silver things? Hmm.
Wish I could join you gals, but I'm still snowbound in March, not digging out 'til April. Stop by Jackson Hole on your way to Bozeman, anybody, and I'll buy you a glass o wine. I may go watch the show, but have obligations in Jackson on June 28-30.
Stella is the same year/length/model as yours. Now busy prowling to see if you've posted pix yet ...

Yessss, one month to go! Can't wait!
Meredith, let's see some photos of that silver baby! I'm reading the same book, btw.
I drove home from Vegas last night and was sooooo tempted to swing by the notreallyarally rally, but with 9 hours to go, and no trailer in tow, I decided against it. I'll bet they're having a good ole time.
Jo, I'll take you up on that Jackson Hole invitation some day...
in the meantime, stay warm & enjoy.
