There is a price to pay for not owning an Airstream
It is not being able to belong to an Airstream club.

".... the WBCCI is a brand identity group..."
this is really the entire problem in a nutshell.
is we is, or is we ain't an AS club! everything else is just add-on.
i say we is - and keep it that way!

Since that isn't an option, he sends in a motion that all life members of the club should be able to buy another for product and remain full members of the Thunderbird club. The motion passes and he with great glee purchases a Ford minivan which he proudly drives to the Thunderbird club meetings and tells all the members who own old Thunderbirds how great his new van is. Remember I am still out here with my Mustang which is a Ford, but definitely not a Thunderbird. My buddy wishes I was in the Thunderbird club with him, so he sends in another resolution to allow any Ford product into the Thunderbird club even if you have never been a Thunderbird owner or previous club member.......now it is just a Ford club.

It is amazing how clear the issue is when you put a name like Ford on it.
I can just see the Vintage Mustang owners when an old Falcon or even a fully restored model T pulled into a rally and wanted to run for the Presidency. I think more would leave than would stay.

Thank you for the kind words.
Affinity clubs have a place in this world. They are not elitist, nor snobby. They are just groups of people surrounding a common brand often in support of that brand. As an example, I will use my Mustang Club affiliation again. Some of you may remember the Ford Probe of the late '80s. That was supposed to be the replacement for the for Mustang (yes, I know what could Ford have been thinking a front wheel drive four cylinder instead of a rear wheel drive V-8???). When the MCA and other Mustang enthusiasts heard this, there was a great uprising including many, many letters to Ford leadership. The "Fox Body" Mustang was instead introduced in 1987, and the Probe became what it was.
The WBCCI serves a similar purpose to the Airstream and Thor Industries. We, collectively, are the enthusiast group. We encourage others to purchase Airstream both new and used. We help each other both in restoration of vintage, and modification of all models. We harangue Airstream on quality and options for current and future production. Remove the core exclusivity of Airstream from the WBCCI, and I fear that camaraderie will dissipate. Airstream exclusivity is what differentiates the WBCCI from a Thor owners group, or using the example from my previous post the Thunderbird Club from the Ford owners group (both exist).

@Aviator: didn't the 'fox' mustang start with the '79 that shared the Fairmont platform?

You are correct. I had forgotten the '79-'86 square headlight version. By 1986 sales were dropping hence the Probe idea. The 1987 was a remodel with the introduction of fuel injection in the 302ci, and the big rear wing and lower valances in the 1987GT. When I first took delivery of mine, people stopped to ask what it was as the styling was significantly different in the GT trim package.
Now back to your original thread of the MoHo issue.

I just saw a rather exclusive looking motorhome on the internet today. I am not sure if the Lifetime members will go quite this posh but if the IBT does vote this in I can only imagine the rally venue and prices might also become very exclusive. You can kiss 3amp service bye bye.
Plenty of room to sign up participants for the next International and win that competition. Also a perfect choice for those discerning Airstreamers with a serious case of slide-out envy. I am not sure Jackson Center has a big enough tractor to get one of these babies out of the spring mud at Alumapalooza though.
Marchi Mobile, a Vienna-based company has created a stunning way of hitting the road by launching the lavish eleMMent Palazzo Motor Coaches, the latest in the high-end coach. The name eleMMent has been purposely misspelled to play with the company’s name double M.
The luxurious vehicle is available in various configurations allowing them to be used for personal travel, commuting or as roaming promotional vehicles, the 40 foot long coaches manage to expand to a liveable 430 square feet of space when parked. Including a master bedroom spacious enough to house a 40 inch flatscreen TV, and a pop-up sky lounge rooftop patio.
The amenities would also include a mini-kitchen, an integrated communications and location system and satellite television. It can be configured with everything from mobile internet, a working fireplace recommended for use only when parked, streaming video surveillance, heated flooring and rainfall shower.

That was not supposed to be posted until after the vote. It may upset some members to see what reality will look like.

Wisconsin Unit voted against the Thor motor home amendment by 80 - 20% at its spring business meeting.
(Wisconsin has proportional voting, so this will be reflected in the unit's vote at the Delegate's Meeting.)

I have an honest question. I have been a member of the WBCCI for three years, and hosted two unit rallys. In that short time this issue has come up a number of times. Can any member make a motion or does it need to be done by a Unit or Region Officer?

It depends on your real question.
Any member can propose a change to our Constitution. Their Unit must agree and bring it forward through their region. The process is described in the Bluebook or at WBCCI.org.
For an amendment that has already been brought forward, like this one, the unit may instruct their delegate to propose a change. That instruction takes place at the unit business meeting in the spring. Of course an individual can propose that direction in the meeting.
At the Delegates Meeting, only the 1 person representing each unit may propose changes to an amendment, based on the instruction provided by his unit.
Hope this answers your question. If not, ask again with more specificity.

Thanks Matt, That helps. I guess to be more specific with my train of thought. If someone or group of someones continues to ask for something that the membership has said no to multiple times. Perhaps someone else should propose that the recent addition of motor homes being allowed into the club should be repealed. I was curious to see how that could be done. Thanks for your help.

I understand your question. Actually this proposal has not been approved. This was brought to the delegates for a vote this summer. It requires a 2/3 vote FOR to approve. It is most unlikely to pass.
Why the brought it back for a vote so soon? I guess a few really want this to happen.

I am sitting in my spring meeting right now in utter disbelief. My unit just voted 10:8 FOR allowing in Thor motorhomes. Un-stinking-believable!
