You mean like every car manufacturer, including their own car line? Simple. Don't put the side airbag above the door. Put it in the A or B pillar, just like they do in their cars. Why they did it the way they did on the Sprinter is a mystery only some designer at MB can explain.....
On our 2018 Interstate, I took a small screwdriver and pried the clip up from the bottom so it rotated upward. Then you can slide it to the side and completely remove it. The visor still clips into place just as you'd normally expect. Hope this helps.
I tried various side window shades to keep that sun off me from the side. They worked, but were clumbersome and a nuisance. Then I had my side cab windows tinted to the legal limit in Maryland. Wow! What a difference no more need for side window shades - wish I had done it sooner. Also recommended by my dermatologist.
