Dead House Batteries - Anyone Have a Theory?

We used our 2016 Interstate Grand Tour EXT Twin for a few days in late January during which time everything was working great.

I then placed the van in storage as follows:
  • Shore power was plugged in and working
  • House master switch was turned off
  • Magnum display was showing that the unit was charging as usual

I Came back today to inspect the van and the Magnum display showed the com error and there was no house power. I started the van and everything powered up, but powered right down again when I turned the engine off.

I checked the DC voltage at the terminals by the Magnum and directly on the battery terminals and the meter showed 3V at both locations.

To fully describe my setup, I've made the following modifications:
  • Eliminated the SB-164 solenoid
  • Installed the Magnum DC Load Disconnect (DCLD) Pigtail Adapter
  • Installed the Renology Amp MPPT solar controller and MT50 display

Since making these modifications I have stored the van on shore power for several 10 to 15 week periods of time with no battery problems at all.

Anybody have an idea what went wrong this time and what I should do to fix it?

Also, should I assume the Lifeline GPL-24T batteries need to be replaced?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can weigh in!

Three volts on the batteries means they are dead. The Magnum needs about 9-10 volts to function even for battery charging. You might be able to recover the batteries if you can get them charged by a stand alone charger that will push a charge to batteries that low. Some older models will do it. But many newer chargers need at least 5-10 volts to work.

Good luck!

Sounds like shore power died or your converter failed.

Solar may have failed as well. Airstream used an inappropriate solar connector to go through the van roof. Mine got water in it and the pins corroded off inside the connector. Found it just last week.

What!?

Now that mine is not in our driveway but on a friend's backyard, we rely solely on solar to keep the batteries topped off... Going to have to check on this as soon as possible as well...

So most likely I have the same one used on the 2016, right? Doubt they changed those for the following years...

Mine is a two pin SAE connector that is intended to be mounted on the side of the van for added solar panels. When not in use you can cap it, so water doesn't get in. Not intended for the roof. There are better ways to go through the roof that I hope are in use on newer models.

That is what it should be. They must have run out of parts when they did mine.
