house batteries dead?

Morning all, purchased last month our first RV. 2014 interstate EXT. I suspect the house batteries are failed. Chassis battery was bad the first time we saw it, was replaced before we picked it up. Our first overnight was a boondock type state campground. By the next morning, house batteries show zero percent remaining. Used only limited lighting, and refrigerator. Invertor not used and in the off position. unable to start the generator, didnt know I could jump it with the chassis battery.
first question, how should I confirm the house batteries are bad?
second, Is there an upgrade we should consider?
third, more general. I assume (I know what happens with assumptions) the house batteries are charged three ways, driving, shore power, or generator. 100kW Solar panels seem to be more of a trickle charge.
True or no?
thank you in advance,
Signed, Newbies in the South Bay

Yep, house batteries are likely dead. A battery shop can test them. They may be salvageable by doing an 'equalization' - but probably not. Yes, they are charged in the three ways you say. I upgraded to 200W solar and we can go through the night and not get below 70% - unless we use the furnace a lot. I added the Magnum BMK (battery monitor kit and upgraded remote to keep better track of state of charge. Many on this forum have added more batteries and/or more than 200W solar, but 200W with good-condition batteries works well for how we use it.
