It's Thursday and I love my Airstream because it's now sitting in the driveway, gleaming for all to see, after being stored away in a dark, cold barn. We're in packing mode, soon off to re-introduce it to palm trees and Jimmy Buffett tunes as opposed to snow, snow and more snow...

People out walking their dogs stop for a chat, and one of them in particular was in awe - said that it was so cool for us to have the "Cadillac of trailers"... I like to think of it as more Aston Martin-ish cool myself...

I like my Airstream because

I have just finished airing her out, scrubbing her insides, vacuumed all the cracks and crevices, shampooed the carpet and scrubbed out the oven, put dryer sheets in all her bins (except the k itchen), and she smells lovely.

I like my Airstream because she is Romance, and I love romance!

greeting all...

well it seems like only yesterday,

and 4500 posts ago...

that the thursday thing started...

so with this post and a few more...

i wanna toss up some pix of my first a/s...

a moho that is 30 years old soon and hidden somewhere on the american prairie...

these were taken about 10-12 years into the relationship, or about 16-18 years ago...

in the beginning and on a couple of thursdays

and wally weren't the only one that knew how to strike a pose!

cheers

so have other things g!

and that's a reason for the hat...

over the years this early and unusual a/s moho received some subtle modifications....

for example in the last post note the window IN the door, which was originally solid...

and the opening window in the the shower stall, with one way mirrored glass...

the street side toilet also had an opening window, seen here...

and the under side had added cargo drawers added, like the 90s units...

the sliding drawer under the galley street side was long enough for skis and deep enough for scuba tanks and gear...

power, heated, remotely adjustable rear view mirrors replaced the originals and were identical to the 90s version....

i had 2 set of wheel covers and swapped them seasonally, the rotary phone style were stainless steel, attached with allen keys...

and were made in italy!

cheers

Yahoo! Thursday.

It is Thursday!

I love my sweet Bambi! But today I will laud praises on the Flying Cloud! With a lot of luck and some good fortune we got our Flying Cloud registered today, license plate in hand and all!

It was one of those times when we actually enjoyed going to the DMV! The gal at the window who waited on us asked what we needed, and we said register a vintage Airstream! Well, that was the *magic* word! She said, Oh, I have a little 16 footer made in the 1950s in my yard ~ my ex left it, he didn't want it... the conversation only got better from there! (She didn't know if it was a Pacer or a Bubble...) So this sweet gal helped us with the paperwork and we were outta there in no time!

CaddyGrn, And you didn't buy it, If you have the flying cloud finished you have to have something to keep Don busy with. It sound like the perfect pod for next years area 33.

Wow 2Air, that's a real beauty. Bet you wish you had kept her as a keepsake. I know there are a lot of folks here on the forums that would love to have her now.

Teresa,
The Cloud is still sitting in pieces... Don bought it shortly after he finished the Bambi. It is a major project... if he gets the shell back on the frame by next year it will be great! Don has so many projects... finish painting the house, finish making the new shelving/cupboards in the study, finish my 48 Cadillac, finish his 33 Chevy.... the list goes on. He needs to live to 408 at least!

Because tomorrow morning after coffee. We'll be heading out to the Panamint Valley to boondock.

The desert flowers are in bloom and it's a full moon and where we're going there will be no one else.

Sounds like a perfect weekend to us.

Sweet Thursday...

It is once again time to think about my sweet Bambi! She is sitting snugly in the garage awaiting our next rally. Soon the weather *should* turn to spring (we had snow flakes two days ago...) and she will be able to come out of hibernation! She can't wait to get on the road and try out her new axle!

Always happy to think nice things....

It is Thursday and I love my airstream because she looks so pretty with her new credenza with spaces for books, CD's, paintset and my 3-D collection, even the radio and cassette player( the cassette player does'nt work but couldn't figure out how to unplug it without the radio going dead so it stays! I love to build things for her.

It is Thursday and the trees are down and the stumps removed in the back yard. So now I can bring the 75 Ambassador home to start working on it.

It's Thursday and I like my Airstream because it requires me to stretch beyond my comfort level to take on new tasks, develop new skills, and learn the myriad and complex eccentricities in restoring this time capsule. Although it wasn't its birthday, I bought a lovely and utile table saw to prepare the sub floor and, later, the new cabinets. This is, of course, in keeping with my standard "cart before the horse" philosophy and is not recommended for those with a more logical bent, such as figuring out the new bathroom configuration prior to securing the belly pan. One word of advice for those who endeavor such a project. When things get tiresome, overwhelming, expensive, and seemingly impossible... get a cotton rag, some aluminum polish, and go at a small portion of the outer skin, say, next to the door. That one small patch of gleaming glory gives great gratitude. It's a foreshadowing of what's possible, and a talisman to a successful continuing effort. Polish often, or as the psychological necessity arises.

Hi, it's Thursday and I like my Airstream because it's always on stand-by, waiting patiently to be called out for use whenever we are ready and able. And it just sits, being pretty, in my driveway, for it's next assignment.
