ac vents falling out

My 2018 international 30 ceiling ac vent fell on me in the middle of the night while using the heat pump, this happen to anyone else? Trailer has been great for the first season, couple minor issues but airstream sent parts and easy fixes, but these vents have started falling out, next was the bathroom then one forward, drive slow on bumpy roads and no popped rivets ect.

We have a 2015 Flying Cloud 25FB (Lucy) that we purchased new in October of 2014. This was the first year of the ceiling vent air conditioning. The original vents were covered in a screen mesh in a metal ring with no directional or cutting off capabilities.

When Lucy was about six months old, we had her at Jackson Center. Airstream replaced the original vents with the directional vents now in use. These new vents are always falling to the floor. I have tried several fixes including using two-sided tape around the outer plastic ring of the vents. This has worked somewhat, but is nopt a surefire fix. We still have vents fall, especially when we use the heat pump.

These vents are the product of a flawed design by Airstream.

ac vents falling out

Your not alone First325. I have thought about using a few (small) pieces of double sided tape to stop the attacks from above.

Moosetags - do you happen to still have your old type mesh vents? PM if you do! I have been looking for a few.

A couple of things to fix this. 1. Look carefully at the hole in the ceiling. All mine has a little aluminum tab sticking out. Cut or dremmel those off. 2. Get a heat gut and carefully heat the plastic clips on the vent outwards so they fit tighter. 3. When installing the vents, get something to fit between the aluminum grill and the plastic part with the clips. Push up on the plastic part until you hear the clips “snap” into place. Problem solved.

I had one falling out and the dealer had a fix. Not sure what they did, but it works as expected. I think there's some tabs that are supposed to hold them in, but get bent in installation.

I got some clear silicon sealant and put them around the vents where they came in contact. 3 of mine use to come down while traveling all the time. Issue solved. Cheap and easy fix.

This is a known defect in Jackson Center. They have a fix with screws that cure the problem. I had my local dealer try to fix but they weren’t successful, but the factory has the correct fix now.

We had a number of vents that would fall out—problem was fixed by putting 2 or 3 dabs of silicone caulking on the vents.

Looks like an RJ9 connector. So in addition to controlling the awning, it will pick up all verbal discussions within and without the RV and transmit to Facebook, which in turn transmits to companies in the US and China for analysis and tracking. If you say anything negative about Individual 1 from either country, a drone will be sent out and your vehicle computers will be over ridden, resulting in your having an accident. This message will now self destruct in 5 seconds after being read...5,4,3,2,1...Darn Chinese electronics...5,4,3,2,1...oh man, when my boss finds out I have messed up the self destruct sequence...there is a drone outside my windo

These clips can be fabricated from 1/2" wide, .020 thick SS strapping. This fix worked for me. See pics for details.

So, I did a bit of a modified fix, rather than put images here, I documented an instructable on how to fix it. Link can be found here, basically used a piece of flat-stock behind the vent and tightened it down with a bolt: https://www.instructables.com/Airstr...ling-Vent-Fix/
