Road Trip East to West!!

My two friends/colleagues and I just learned that we have been accepted into a volunteer program as part of the USDA Forest Service, so we get to take the Airstream from Connecticut to Wyoming!! WOW! Afew months ago we applied to the program never thinking we'd actually be accepted, so now we are beside ourselves with excitement. We'll be in the area around Laramie in the Medicine Bow-Routte NF documenting the remains of a turn of the century town called Echo Lodge.

I guess I'll be doing sketching since I'm the artist among us. We're all middle school teachers so this will give us a wonderful topic for our "what I did for summer vacation" essays.
If any of you are from the area or if you've been there before, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, ie. what kind of clothing to bring, interesting sights or activities, etc.
THANKS

Hey, that sounds really cool. If I had summers off, I'd want to do the same thing. Being an artist myself, I can understand and appreciate your interest in this endeavor. Please keep us posted on your happenings as you travel west and how things are progressing at Laramie.

Be sure and include the Snowy Mountains in your summer time. They are quite high, lots of snow cover even in mid summer, and very near Laramie. Maybe your summer project is up in this region! As a just-retired middle school teacher, I wish you a wonderful time, learning lots to take back to share with your kids They need all the experience and broadening you can give them. ~G

Right on!! I never heard of this Passport in Time Program with the USFS. That sounds like a lot of fun…. Now that you have told everybody about this fun you about to embark upon......your home assignment teacher, is that you must document the trip on the Airstream Forums with photos and a trip journal we will grade your assignment upon completion...We look forward to learning more.
Safe Travels,
