Glad I have met great people here - here's someone that's not...

I want to say a "BIG" thanks to the many of you that have helped me in my attempt to purchase an AS.... you have taken the time to send me private messages with important tips, you have posted sage advice and I must confess that my level of eager anticipation of the purchase of a AS was to materialize this morning.

I get the cash together (they only wanted cash), I made the appointment to have the brake controller installed, got the hotel reservation for tonight and a campground reservation for tomorrow night (at least ONE night ) and cancelled a seminar that I was to give tomorrow so I could leave today. And then I called them this morning to CONFIRM all was set, ready, go....Given a cheerful "all go"

Well, guess who called back? Yep, the owners with the news that the unit was sold. I had offered to fedex a deposit, Oh no, I give my word - it yours!

I am sure if is for the best.... but I just had to share this and let everyone who is a member of this forum deserves a "big thankyou" for your honest input ...... and because of you, I will just continue my search and STILL look forward to being a proud and informed AS owner....

That's a shame

There are still some of us out here that consider our word to be a bond, but I see more and more people that would rather make one more dollar no matter who it hurts.

Consider it a blessing in disguise

Terrible behavior.
But don't despair.

Now you have a chance to find a great Airstream from an equally great seller.

Take your time and don't look back.

So sorry to read of this, Tom, but if the owner pulled this one, who knows what might have been covered up about the trailer itself. The one behavior leads one to suspect another. Now, I'll bet you'll soon be seeing stellar Airstreams all around and tips and leads to good ones from friends here on the forum. We are glad that in spite of this rough deal, you are still sold on Airstreaming! ~G

I am sorry to hear your tale but at least you got it off your chest and nor can start the search for another Airstream. Not all sellers are that way. The gentleman we bought our motor home from sent us a signed title before full payment. That way we were able to get new plates and transfer ownership before we flew out to pick it up. Most sellers are like that and your next experience will be delightful

I live in Florida I bought my A/S off ebay from a guy in Mo. sent a 500.00 Deposit 2 weeks before I was able to drive out to get it was kinda worried but spoke to owner via phone a couple times during the wait and he emailed me directions to his house so off I went everything worked out great he even let me keep the tags on trailer to tow it home to Florida I promptly mailed them back as soon as I returned home.....

Tom,
That really stinks, it's a shame they did you like that. I hope the right one comes along soon and I will certainly keep an eye out for you.

Although you may feel slighted by what happened, it happened for a reason and know that it was for the good. Like Job in the Bible, now you'll really get something better than this one.

When I bought my moho, I gave the owner a check but they didn't have a Wells Fargo in his small town to confirm funds. He let me take it anyway!

He lived in Washington...I drove it to California!

Coal and Switches

Tom,

Sorry to hear your story. That owner deserves nothing but coal and switches under their tree this year.

The right trailer will come your way and you will be able to get a good deal on it and have faith that you are not being conned.

Thank goodness for the Forum members who make it so easy to live vicariously through them. It held my wife and I over until we picked up our unit.

I'll send some KARMA your way.

Jerry

Tom,
All things happen for a reason. "A mans word is relative to the amount of the sale". This was posted in the office of our Sales director. Kinda tells you why things work as they do and the general dishonesty of people.

YOUR AS is our there. And there are honest people.

I agree with some of the other posters. You probably didn't want their Airstream anyway. They were obviously dishonest people with low integrity.
I, for one, am glad to hear that such low lifes are no longer Airstreamers.

It is an old saying...but perhaps it still holds. "It was not meant to be". We almost made a purchase and are glad now we did not. We did not know about the Forum at the time we got the Airstream Fever. And we learned after becoming a Forum member. Later we made a BETTER purchase. There is your Airstream out there.
