Hi, and welcome to the forums.
Your 81 should be a P30 chassis, just wander into your local Napa with the hoses you need, and tell them you are looking for hoses for a bread truck, with whichever engine yours has (probably a 454cid/7.4L).
There are other things you should do for the cooling system while you have it apart, like a thermostat and gasket. You can get those parts the same way.
Good luck.

Radiator hoses

Greetings friends!

I'm currently replacing hoses / belts, etc. on our 75 Argosy 20 ft 350 engine. Tracking down parts is more work than the actual installation! So now you can milk me for my information.

I had good luck at AutoZone, who lists their parts choices very well in their computer. No "universal flex hose" here, they had the exact hoses. Napa had only the top hose, and it was a flex. I suggest Motorad "fail-safe" thermostat while you are at it...when the engine overheats, it locks in the open position, sparing potential engine and transmission damage. $13 at AutoZone. Suggest changing water pump , alternator, and fan clutch while you are up there. And belts, hoses, radiator cap, and vacuum hoses as well . Prior to doing anything, use the $5.99 Prestone Super Cleaner in your cooling system to douche out all the sludge and scale. Replace antifreeze with extended life stuff.

I used my little Casio camera to make mini videos of where everything goes so that I could put everything back together correctly.

NAPA part numbers...

I can't prove this yet but I am having my radiator repaired currently and we're looking at buying NAPA Motorhome Specific numbers for the Upper: NBH 8153, and lower: NBH 8154.

Found this by looking it up on the NAPA online site and specifying the 82 Chevy.

radiator hoses

Some of the parts counter people are pretty inept at finding anything beyond the common vehicles that their system leads them to. I.e. Ford - 1998 - explorer - 2wd - 5.0L ...

Don't let them tell you a part is discontinued or no longer available. It is. Maybe not there or that they can find. I recently took a hose in with a number on it. Napa said it wasn't available. I got my phone out and googled it. Napa popped up as having it in stock at the store I was standing in. They did.

In their defense the counter person said the company didn't allow them to "play around" on the Internet while at work.

Shop mechanic says these are each to small at one end, and he's still looking. Sorry for misdirection, I Will post again when he gets the right solution!

Just curious....Do the Isuzu powertrains use the same radiator and hoses as the 454? I'd imagine the thermostat is different.

Yes this will be the next thing on my list of things to do list.

Cheers
Tony
