Brake Repair Help in Jax, FL Area

I am in need of recommendations for a shop to repair the brake system on a '78 Argosy motorhome. I would prefer to use a truck or bus type repair shop as they should have all the equipment to safely lift it and access to parts. RV places don't want to touch it and that's OK with me.

The moho is in Florida and I'm not but I have contacts there who will follow up on any recommended shops for me. Once narrowed down will plan a road trip to get the work done.

Will consider wide area. Jax, Middleburg, Green Cove Springs, etc., over Gainsville way if needed or north of Jax.

Any help or sources most welcomed !! Feel free to PM me if easier.

Thanks much ..................

JD Sanders in Ocala. A little farther than JAX, but a very well thought of AS Dealer and Service.

Sanders is in Gainesville. They can recommend someone if they can't do the work. They are An AS dealer.

The chassis on your Argosy is a Chevy p30. Any truck shop should be able to do your brakes. Are you looking to just replace your brake pads or more? Not sure on that year Argosy but it may be front disc and drum rear. Parts are easy to find, they shouldnt have any problem locating. Just make sure you tell them from the start that its a chevy p30 chassis, otherwise some shops see Airstream and think its some exotic vehicle. What size is your rig? Does it have the 454 or 350 motor, they'll ask you that.

You really shouldnt have any problem getting your brakes done at any truck shop once you tell them its just a chevy p30 chassis. Try Googling 1978 Chevy p30 brake parts and youll see that multiple vendors pop up that carry your parts.

Airstream dealers dont touch the mechanicals on the older motorhomes.

Thanks for all the replies.. Can use all the info to narrow my search for a good place to do the work. I am familiar with JD Sanders, agree, a good place and I will call them to see if they can give me a referral.

Mayco -- I have found the above statement to apply to most all dealers, AS or not, that is why I am looking for a reputable truck/bus type business. Seems the best route to go.

Many thanks, looking for that elusive name of a great place.........

Dead ends ............

Just to follow up on those who replied, JD Sanders is a no go and had no recommendations.

AJ RV is no more. North Florida RV now....

Still on the look for the right place. I'll find it, thinking positive, and share the info when I do. I can't be the only one who might need to find help either now or in the future in that area.

Thanks much.

Can't help you with a Jacksonville recommendation, but I have had good results using Yelp to find shops for our 310 while touring the country. I found Stokes Garage in Wilmington, DE that way, and they were excellent, an old school family owned shop. Search the site for "truck repair" in Jacksonville, read the reviews closely, and start making calls. I would only look for an RV shop if I needed work done on the coach systems, not the chassis.

Glimmer of hope....

Good old Yellow pages...

Found a shop in Jax about 10 miles away from where Argy is parked. Place called Horton's. Hoping to get it in next week for a thorough condition inspection and go from there. Luckily they are no stranger to moho's. My onsite helper tells me that a big Newmar was on one of the racks. The service writer echoed the same as many here have, P30 parts, no problem, easy to come by.

Feeling better about it for now. I'll follow up with info on how it turns out. Someone else may need some work too...

I would make sure that as part of your brake work, have your system completely flushed of the old brake fluid.
