Suggestions for medicine cabinet organization

Does anyone have any suggestions how to keep items from falling out of the vanity (medicine) cabinet on a classic 33. I would be curious what other people have done for organization tips so that things don’t shift around during transit and fall out the first time you open the vanity After you stop.

I’m thinking a lip on the front of the shelves and anti slip mats maybe? Any thoughts or other ideas.

I used clear plastic corner guards to make a lip that holds things in.

You can usually find corner guards at any home depot or lowes

I also use clear plastic guards, but I make them and they are taller. I just cut a piece of plastic that fits over the front and is about 2 inch tall. To keep it in place I drill three holes into the side of the inside sides of the cabinet (on each side) and put small eye screws into each hole. The holes are staggered, two behind the plastic piece at the high and low points, and one in the front of the plastic in the middle.


This allows me to slide the plastic into place from above and remove it for cleaning. Using eye screws makes them easy to install and the eyes can be positioned to be flat against the plastic slats.

I found the "Like-It" bricks from the container store work very well as you can purchase some that are taller, add dividers and organize the medical supplies accordingly (tooth brush and tooth paste in one, meds in another). They are tall enough they don't escape when you open the medicine cabinet...and that is a good thing for us as our 2019 Globetrotter's mirrored door pops open almost everytime we go anywhere and stuff would be all over the floor! Instead we just close the cabinet and move on.

Do you have pictures? I'm trying to visualize what this looks like. I have a similar problem with my medicine cabinet (2018, 25' Flying Cloud) and inserting boxes takes away some of the space in the cabinet.

We have used the magnetic boxes that come from the container store. We use a curtain rod across the cabinet and the various magnetic boxes don’t move. We use them in the BR cabinet above the sink. That big mirrored flip up mirror. Works like a charm. Unit in storage or I would send a picture.

We us small square plastic storage food tubs. Nothing moves when traveling. They also help organize.

I use MagnaPods and StickonPods (Container Store) which work on both the inside of the medicine cabinet and on the inside of the door. The plastic dividers are moveable to the desired size. These do not work for larger items.

This is probably obvious but you can turn any container into a magnetic container with... wait for it... magnets!

I hot glue or epoxy rare earth magnets on a bunch of things in my house and in my woodshop. If you want to make something wood or plastic both magnetic and flush, you can use a drill bit and recess the magnet.

I use rare earth magnets like these.

I’m waiting to take my first trip with my new Globetrotter to decide what I want to secure in this fashion.

Except in the classic the medicine cabinet is all wood not metal. Magnets are no go.

I don't have pictures just now, but since we don't have snow yet I can go into the trailer and take some. Give me a day or two.

Someone asked me for a picture, so here it is. I mis-remembered it a bit. I only used two screws at each side because the plastic piece sits behind the little lip on the shelf at the bottom.


It's a little hard to see because of the clear plastic, but I put a small screw eye on the inside and one on the outside at the top - at each side. Between the screw eyes and the lip on the shelf, it keeps the clear plastic in place.

Thought I would throw in a little twist on the shelf lip ideas.

The recessed oval non-opening windows are ideal candidates for shallow shelves, especially in the bathroom. With a lip across the bottom, great place for putting pill bottles, nail polish, etc. while stationary.

Check to make sure the shelves are level. I had the same problem with things falling out of the cabinet. I got a small level and checked the shelves and they were not. I took the cabinet apart and lowered the back of the shelves about 1/2”. No more things falling out.
