Do you mind sharing who your dealer is?

Thanks

Please, please, please use your 3-year warranty and make an appointment with the Airstream factory in JC; and take your 2020 GT to them so they can make it like new again. I think they will replace your frig, regardless of vendor agreements, and fix anything else you have on your list. I’ve gone to them in 2018 and 2019 (and oh yeah, baby, I’ll be going again this winter), and they do good, solid work.

If you bought it from the VA dealer.... a Marine DI could explain their service dept. With the words:

Couldn't pour p*** out of a boot if you told them the directions were written on the heel!

Get thee to the mothership!

Yet another Airstream Quality Control Post

Our 2020 GT 27 queen has the same front AC buckle where the condensate cups are. It’s on our punch list. We’ve been waiting on a response from customer care for 6 weeks now with a front hold down plate failure that has the front belt rail loose and the front panel creased in the bottom corners. JC Service diagnosed but between the back log from Covid and the typical issues we’ve had no luck with calls or emails. Fortunately we have 2 years of warranty left to deal with it all.Click image for larger version

Disturbed to read yet another story of horrendous QC failures as I await delivery of our first AS Trailer, 28' FC RB Twin. I think I will refuse to remove the unit from the dealer's lot until I have made my feeble rookie attempt to test every system, inspect every inch of the trailer. Clearly impossible and unacceptable. Perhaps I will be pleasantly surprised but I am getting very nervous.

Insist on 'camping' overnight on the dealers lot, try everything on your own and all the stuff dealer didn't cover on the walkthrough. Take video notes and act like a newbie with plenty of 'dumb' questions the next morning. Ask for a ladder and watch for the reaction, how about the battery, could they test it please?

GOOD LUCK....

Bob

Sad to say that many of us have experienced the same or similar problems. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet if you are far away from the mother ship. We got the parts under warranty from a different branded RV dealer and installed them ourselves. The production debris should never happen, but it does. Still, the quality is MUCH better than in one of the SOBs... expect a glut of them to be for sale within the next few years when folks find out that maintenance is continuous for their RVs

QC issues are not new. Years ago, Betsey Furness in Westinghouse Playhouse of Stars said the add that “the name goes on after the quality goes in”. Our 2015 23D International Serenity did not have the word “AIRSTREAM” on the back.

It went downhill from there. First major issue was scored wheel bearings from lack of grease discovered when I arrived with the brand new unit at the conversion shop and asked them to check the bearings after the 2,000 mile drive from the dealership. Unit had been trucked to the dealership. The pre-delivery dealer inspection must have been done in the employee coffee lounge since there was a huge ball of a partially removed plastic film beside the mattress and they had put a mattress cover on. The list was long.

I was there every day while our 2014 Classic was being built. Shoddy workmanship was pointed out to the QC supervisor and was ignored. I caught the installation of the incorrect flooring material and got my laptop to show the foremen I had a change order signed by the VP of production.

When the unit arrived with significant interior damage, I knew from my prior Airstream trailer experience with the dealership that they were totally incapable of doing repairs properly. So I took it to a custom Airstream restoration shop and got both custom and repair work done with the best parts for the job, not the cheapest that either the factory or dealer would have used. Spent nearly half the cost of the unit to get it done correctly. No issues with any mods or those repairs to date.

The only issue is the 1,200 mile trip each way to get things done properly. Tried a local shop for a simple task and they damaged the roof and improperly installed A/C parts.
