What Are Your Thoughts, 25 or 27

Here's the deal. We are going to get a 2021, it's going to be a Globetrotter, a FB Twin. We can get a 25 with exactly the options we want right now, they have them in stock. Or we can order a 27 exactly as we want and get it around the middle of May. We are both instant gratification people, but we did decided we could wait. Our first choice was the 27, I'm not really sure why as they are very similar. We are coming out of a 42' toy hauler so we understand it's going to be a really big change either way. We know we want smaller and are prepared for that, we had a Jayco 27' for a few years and it had more that enough room for us. It is going to be just my wife and my self and a dog or two. We are both still working and will be for a few more years, so we are not full timers or anything. We will use it on an average of maybe 3 or 4 days a month with one or two week long vacations a year. After retirement, we may become snowbirds, staying in it a month or two at a time. So, what are ya'll's opinions? Good or bad, pros and cons, we would like here what you think we should do. Oh, our TV is a ton dually so we are good either way. Thanks

We also debated between the 25 and 27. At the end of the day it is personal preference and we both agreed the 25 would have worked but the larger slide out pantry and extra closet space in the 27 is what sold us on it.

The larger slide out pantry is great and wouldn't trade it for anything now.

In the extra closet space we used one of the bays for an elfa drawer system that gives us some great organization.

The slightly longer are where the extra closet door and the larger slide out pantry are make a great area for the dog bed as well.

For my money I would buy the 27 ft Globetrotter again but this time it is your money not mine.

Either way you will love it.

As stated above the larger closet and the larger pantry were at the top of the list for the 27 but also think about the orientation of the bed between the 25, east/west and 27, north/south.
Another item that needs consideration, Airstreams do lack storage and general square footage, I would also suggest thinking about a twin bed option in either to gain interior floor space as well as external storage.

IMHO both sizes are in the “sweet spot”. We have had both a 25’ and a 27’. Both FBT. Going from a 25’ to 27’ seemed like a difference of 6’ on the inside even though there is only a 2’ difference.

We have seen no difference in towing or parking.

We are happy with the 27’. If we were to buy again it would be a 27’

We have recently owned a 25 (rear bed twin) and a 27 (front bed twin) Both flying cloud models.

It is shocking! how much more interior storage there is with the 27.

Some of the things I am going to mention may not apply to the 25 front bed vs 27, and some will.

1-Pantry is fabu in the 27. Lackluster in the 25. The 27 pantry can keep the cubic foot equivalent of about 3 large bags of groceries. The pullout pantry in the 25 has very narrow shelves. A pack of Talenti frozen yogurt is what fits in them. So much better in the 27.

2-Single closet vs double closet in the 27.

3-Wider kitchen drawers, longer kitchen counter and longer kitchen overheads. Not sure if this is true with the 25 FB /27 FB, but it was definitely true with the 25 RB/27 FB.

4-Bedroom storage. I am less familiar with the queen layout, but with the twin layout, there is an extra foot of space at the foot of each bed that is the best ever place to stash all kinds of things like hiking boots, back packs, and such.

We are in our second site in a row in Arizona that turned out to be a tight squeeze for our 25. We like back in sites, and some just are not very deep. Especially in older campgrounds. We immediately disconnect and angle park the truck across what is left of the parking pad. Otherwise the nose of the truck would be in the road. I back in until the tires hit the stop. My rear stabilizers are often off the pad. You might get a 27 in here, but it would be very tight.
I always say, if you’re getting the front bed twins, get a 25. If you have to have a queen, get the 27, as it runs lengthwise in the trailer and is MUCH easier to get in and out of.

We have the 25 rear bed. Converted to twins and have empty drawers. Feels very spacious. There are some campgrounds where we barely fit, mainly National Parks.

Because there are two of you, I would go with a 27-footer because of its extra storage space. I solo in my 25-footer and it is just right for my needs. If someone traveled with me, I think it would feel cramped and over-stuffed. I like the 25-foot length because, well, it's two feet shorter than a 27', fits more handily into cramped campsites I've visited and needs only one AC, which thus side steps the heavy PITA 50 amp cord (versus lighter 30 amp). Given all that though and what other posters have said, you will love either version.

Nitzo, we started with a 23’ due to tow vehicle limits. After one season we visited the Airstream dealer and admitted we made a mistake. Our salesperson said “pick out the one you want this time”!

The points that pdavy and Piggy Bank referenced are the reasons we went for the 27’. I agree with Hans627’s comments about the ease of towing and how it feels like 6’ larger inside. Not sure if you use a microwave and a gas oven (we do) because that’s not an option on a 25’. It’s either or. We love the slide out pantry / microwave.

Also, there’s another 6” at the end of the twin beds which is really handy too.

All in all, we’d go for the 27’ again!

That mirrors my experience. We’ve had a 25 RB and now have the 28 RBtwin. It’s far more roomy. Get the 27.

We owned a 25 FB twin and now a 27 fb twin. We do travel and stay out for wks, months and weekends. Our 25 FB with our 350 we managed to get in almost everywhere and with the door orientation to the rear we were off the pad for the door. Never bothered us and our views were great. Out 27 serenity is fabulous for longer stays. We converted to a grand lounge and have tons of space. Again the view is rear. We have noticed more challenges back in on the 27. We are often put in smalle. sites because we are not 30 and with a 350 we work hard to get in sites. We have had some NF campgrounds that we could not find a spot narrow road, tight site and trees But the closet, pantry and twin bed storage is awesome. Everything has some compromises. We had the opportunity to go to a classic. Although the esthetics were great, we stayed with the 27. We have stayed in the unit for 4 months at a time. No problem. We also full timed in the 25 for 7 months. 27 more space comfort and storage. 25 more conducive to tighter spaces.

If you plan to stay at National Parks, smaller is better and even a 25 ft is "pushing it" ours is only 23 ft and there are limited choices in the older campgrounds - and campgrounds where we just do not fit (Chisos Campground in Big Bend comes to mind). If you plan to mostly stay in commercial lots, size is so much less of an issue. How do you plan to use it?

That's true for a 25FB, but not a 25RB. We have a FC 25RBT and have, and use, both.

Edit: Nevermind, I see that the question was about a Globetrotter and that is FB only.

Excellent choice. Don't worry about fitting into National Parks. We had a 25, and now have a 27...it just hasn't been a problem. You'll love the 27.

They feel the same towing and we have never experienced a parking issue but the extra room inside is a huge difference.

We are looking at both sizes also. A big factor for me is that the water pump/winterizing valve is easily accessible in the 27 - under the big closet. The 25 pump is a horror for me to reach.
