Folding two step

We have a 1974 25ft Tradewind Land Yacht. The factory installed folding step was damaged by a car while it was extended. We want to buy a new folding two step assembly. The new ones attach differently.
I was wondering if anyone out there has done this and if there is any real technical problems.

Thanks for your help

OEM Replacement steps for your trailer are still available from any Airstream dealer.

We have already found several places that sell the new OEM step,
Our question is (since they attach differently) are they hard to install and has anyone out there installed new steps on an old trailer and what problems if any they had?

Hahaha...I already did! Spent that money on a replacement water pump and hatch locks...I actually just need a benefactor with unlimited funds who enjoys watching old aluminum trailers being reborn at the hands of a swearing, broken down, half crippled up (from traileritis) middle aged old man.

step replacement

I will try this one more time with a direct question to someone that has done this before.

If you have installed a new style, two step folding step on an older, say 1974 airstream

Did you have any problems? IE had to drill new holes, had to grind something ETC. Any help from someone that has accomplished this would be appreciated.

I already know where I will be buying the new step assembly.

Thanks

The dealer selling you the step should answer "all" your questions regarding the installation.

GM,

We installed a replacement OEM double step last year: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f185...ml#post1145529

Our outriggers were shot, so I replaced them as well as the steps. But the steps would have been a direct bolt in replacement I believe onto the old outriggers. The only modification needed that I remember was to cut a strip of the skin off right below the door to make room for the new latch.

I have a 2009, 25FB, that the aft step guide (not the step) is worn to the point that the step assy will not lock in the open position. Has any one replaced the frame that the has the guide slot in it? It looks like it is welded into place. Or has someone installed a different step assy? I'm wondering if I could install a different type?
