Christmas orphans and misfits

Anyone going to be in South Florida for Christmas? We are thinking about doing a last minute get together between Homestead and the Keys....

Envious!

Can't do it, but boy wish we could. Missed out on our Keys in Oct. trip this year. We'll be with you in spirit. Enjoy!

Long way to go for a four-day weekend off from work. I'd have to turn around and leave as soon as I got there! Instead, I'll be solo camping at Percy Quin State Park, McComb, MS, only a 90-minute drive from home, with full hookups.

Percy Quinn is a beautiful state park.

Clear Springs Rec Area at Homochitto is also beautiful, on a rise over a lake with a little deck on the sites. 50% off with golden age passport, too.

I hate to think of anyone being by themselves on a major holiday. Makes me sad for y'all. If we didn't have a small house that will be near-overrun on Christmas, I would invite you to stay at Comlara Park just north of here and come to our house.

If being alone is going to create loneliness, and it may not, maybe there is a shelter or somewhere else doing meals that day where you could lend a hand and be among others.

Considering that the majority of my trips this past year have been anywhere from 400 to 750 miles from home, you're right.

But I swore when I got my Airstream that the days of staycations were over. Every Federal holiday I get off from work, I'll be camping, somewhere. Even if it has to be somewhere close like Percy Quin.

There will be one exception, though… the MLK Day weekend, I plan to be getting my new Honda Fit set up for towing behind my Interstate. But that's still related to Airstreaming, so I guess it doesn't violate the oath I swore to myself.
