Don't fret our 95 7.4 2500 had 180k+ when we sold it...still crank'n good.
The friction worked well enough on our 63 22' Safari. One single friction bar on the streetside tongue rail.
Another on the curbside is also an option.
At the time I was using the old style Reese straight line, 600lb WD bars.
Be advised the dual cam style WD relies on cam friction which needs tongue weight to work effectively, something your 16 is a bit light on.
BUT....I have no experience with it on a light single axle Airstream.
BTW.... light weight single axle Airstreams do
SWAY....ask me how I know.
Any questions?.....
Good luck
