Ram 6.4L vs Ford 7.3L

I'm upgrading tow vehicles and considering the Ram and Ford 4x4 heavy duty gas models to tow a flying cloud 27fb twin. We load heavy...2 adults, 3 kids, dog, and good amount of stuff in the bed. Kids will grow, but I'm confident we will not want a bigger camper down the road. I would appreciate your thoughts on selecting between the two. I'm looking to limit cost, so my sights are set on pretty basic models (Tradesman and XLT)...thoughts on option packages are appreciated as well. I'm not opposed to the Ford 6.2L either, but there does not seem to be a big discount for that off the 7.3L. Thank you!

There are no doubts both vehicles you are considering will do the job. I am more familiar with the Ram.
2018 and older gas trucks will have a 6 speed transmission (66RFE chrysler) and a standard 3:73 axle ratio. There is an optional 4:10 axle ratio available. If your pulling heavy go with the 4:10 axle ratio.
2019 was an updated model. These have an 8 speed transmission (ZF 8HP).Also come in a standard 3:73 and optional 4:10 ratio. From what I hear the new transmission is working out very well.
One of my friends purchased a gas F250 recently with the 6.2 engine. This truck was an XLT if I recall but was only available with the Ford 6 speed transmission. It is a nice truck. He told me the higher trim levels get the 10 speed transmission.

I love my old 5.9 Cummins the straight block is bulletproof just go to a pulling event the Cummins hardly ever fail. Ford makes the best truck though if you drive in winter salt you can’t beat the aluminum body.
