This one is very attractive.
The next generation Nissan Frontier will be very nice looking, too.

Speaking of Avalanche, as I became interested in the new Ridgeline I read a Wikipedia article on it...what did I learn? Honda hired an ex GM designer to head up the original Ridgeline design!

That explained an awful lot about that weird styling...

Oh...
Pontiac Aztek...
Hummer...
Saab...
Which ugly GM branch did the designer come from?

Funny, to my mind Saab and Volvo made some of the most attractive vehicles. In fact, I dread the day I can no longer keep my 850 wagon on the road. And the old Saab 900 was a fantastic bit of kit.

What was that very brief model of Volvo in the mid to late 80's?
760GLE?
Now that was ugly.
It looked really nice at first, but became dated very quickly, kinda like a Pontiac 6000 became dated very quickly.

I made a nice income repairing Saabs! In their day I loved them for their funky, non mainstream thinking but talk about reliability issues!
Don't get me going...

I have never even ridden in one.
Most Saabs I've seen parked were Turbo by the trunk lid.
Then that stoopid GM era ad slogan- born from jets...
Is that why the styling was so quirky?
Basically, I would be embarrassed or ashamed for a Saab to be parked at my house...
Holy thread drift, Batman!
Let's get back to the Ridgeline, not the ugly first generation, but the nice looking new one...

We had a Honda CRV before moving to a 2014 Pilot. Both the CRV and Pilot were/are well built, reliable vehicles. I know the style of the new Pilots has changed, but if the previous versions are an indicator, I think the new Pilot would be a good choice, which gets me to the Ridgeline. I looked at them previously and thought they were a good truck. Based upon my experience with the Pilot, I would seriously consider the Ridgeline as a tow vehicle if it were within the specifications needed to tow my AS.

I just re-read my post (#12) and realized that I left out a few important words...
While I am incredibly pleased with the drivetrain in my current F-150, the electronics have had an abisimal and totally unacceptable rate of failure! I do love the truck but I don't think I want to live with it for much more time...

So we were driving around Gainesville FL today doing a little shopping when we happened to drive by a rather large Honda dealer. As I simply can't help myself, I pulled in to peek at the closest vehicle to the new Ridgeline the 2016 Pilot, again...
The salesperson listened when I said that I simply wanted to see one as I was waiting for the next Ridgeline to be introduced and then proceeded to let me ask questions and even drive one!
I was surprised at how snappy it is!
I loved the fact that there is plenty of adjustment in the seats.
It handled nicely. It was quiet! Brakes were great...
The ride was much, much smoother than my truck.
There was nothing to dissuade me from waiting for the Ridgeline, nothing I could fault it for in 20 minutes of driving.
I briefly even considered switching from my preferred pick up genre to an SUV!
Pretty nice if you ask me...
Bruce

I am in the opposite situation, my last 2 trucks have been Ridgeline's and I've been very happy with them. I am part way through restoration of my 1979, 31' Sovereign. After getting some hitch work done at CanAM RV I had no trouble towing the original trailer (6500b) over albeit very flat southern Ontario. There's lots to like about the Ridgeline, very comfortable ride, best handling vehicle I've ever owned in the snow, love the in bed trunk and tailgate opening. That said, it's looking like my finished AS will come in closer to 9500lb so I'm sadly parting with the Ridgeline in favour of an F150 (3.5L V6 twin turbo which tows up to 12,000b). In your position I would seriously consider the Honda.

So it seems that the ait has finished, and the Rigedline is already available:

I am currently thinking into switching my Ford Flex for a Ridgedline, but I have doubts since my towing experience is very little. I have a 16 FC 19 ft Bambi, which has a weight of 4500 pounds with a tongue weight of 450, while my Flex maximum values are exactly that. Since we do not do any boondocking we always travel with empty tanks, and I have found that here in Sofla it is not difficult to cruise at 70 mph with a consumption averaging 15/16 miles per gallon at 2500 RPM. The weak points of my current setup is that if i loose cruising speed I have to rev up to 4500 RPM to catch up again, and also that I have had traction lost coming off red light with a wet floor.
I see the Ridgedline has 5000 pounds of towing allowance which allow me to still be within limits with the additional load in the trailer, but an impressive additional 1000 pounds of tongue weight, which i suppose will allow me to charge more things on the car without worries of losing traction.
I don't want a full size truck, I use the car also to carry customers and daily commuter and I need to keep a good image, so my other options are SUVs
Any thoughts on this?

From what I've read, the Ridgeline has a 600 pound limit on tongue weight.
Not sure if that helps you... The awd will certainly aid traction in wet conditions.
